Yes Bostons should carry an uderbite but not so obvious that it sticks out. You dog is probably pet quality, or badly bred, but not to say he isn't a sweet good companion. Look up the breed standard at www.akc.org

Boston Terrier Underbite

Nope.

That is called prognathism. Just because it's common doesn't mean it's normal. It's a sign of poor breeding. Many Bostons have good bites. Judges actually measure that in the show ring and disqualify dogs who are beyond their 'acceptable' limits. Dogs who have one sign of poor breeding often have other hereditary problems, since the breeder was obviously not overly concerned with producing QUALITY pups. :-(

It can also cause dental problems/improper wearing.

Have you not had your new dog to the veterinarian yet? That's one of the first things you should do when getting any new dog. Your DVM can tell you whether the degree of prognathism your dog has is within 'acceptable' limits. Bostons are plagued by other hereditary problems, as well. Your DVM can check for them for you....and if present, discuss with you how much trouble they're likely to cause and what you can possibly to to prevent complications. (Or return the dog to the seller if you choose to.)

May be an underbite. As long as your dog is eating fine I wouldn't be worried about it. I love my dog's underbite, it's adorable!

NORMAL??
*NO*! It's a conformation **FAULT**.

It's just the sort of FAULT that makes an animal PET-stuff instead of show/breeding quality.
*ALTER* it SOON!!!
It happens-LOTZ of *FAULTS* happen.
