I can leave him outside for 2 or 3 hours going out there with him periodically. He will use the bathroom multiple times, but when he comes in he still smells around and pees. I have a female pug aslo and the male does it all the time not only when she is in heat. Please help. Thanks and God Bless

Get both animals spade or neutered. That will put a dent in the territorial peeing issues. I have also heard that if you put some vinegar on a cloth and wipe it on their nose when they do that, it will deter them. Its like you are marking your territory back. Remember to spay or neuter you pets ASAP.

You didn't say how old he is. He should be neutered, that is the number one thing that will help.
It is impossible to train the boys not to mark, since they aren't doing their main peeing in the house, it's just marking, do you see what I mean?
They make these straps that go around the belly of the male dog. I bought one that is leather and you put a little pad on the underside of it and strap it around the dog and it velcros on the top. I have one of my male dogs wear it all the time while inside. He's potty trained, he goes outside all the time, but somehow they always have a few drops saved for the next spot they think they need to mark.

You can buy the strap at some of the bigger petstores and some online stores.

Good Luck!

Since you have a female he is just marking his territory . I go through the same thing !!! My male Chihuahua does the same thing . The vet said if you get them nurtured before they learn to lift their leg it would help . But sadly you are probably going to have to live with it . Thank goodness my dog is tiny and I can walk him long enough to drain his bladder and when he lifts his leg nothing comes out ! LOL

you can get all the supplies people are mentioning at www.jefferspet.com and the neutering thing is a must for this type of behavior in a male dog

he's trying to impress her and you by leaving his scent everywhere and even though you clean it up each time, he can still smell it. natures miracle(expensive) might work, neutering may work if he is really young and using a belly band when he's inside may work. my old (13)man does this if I let him have free roam. he tries very hard to let us all know this is his harem :)
