No, it isn't all right. It sounds like she is in trouble! She needs to see a vet ASAP..Dogs sometimes get eclampsia after delivering puppies, and all it takes is an IV injection to get them back to normal, but is is deadly if not treated soon..
I lost one of the World's best Dobermans to this, and it is a heartbreaker.. I was also left to hand raise 9 orphaned puppies, and even had to take them to work with me to be able to feed them every 2 hours around the clock..this is the greatest risk in breeding..
Other Signs:
Muscle tremors, restlessness, panting, incoordination, grand mal seizures and fever as high as 106> http://www.thepetcenter.com/gen/ec.html
If she has any of those, run don't walk to the vet..Watch for glassy unfocused eyes, drooling, staggering when she tries to walk..
One site says you can give her 3 crushed Tums to help, and then each 4 hours, but I don't know how well that will work..may be worth a try, tho

Are you certain all pups have been delivered? Feel her abdomen well to make sure there are no lumps in there.
She is drinking water first because the labor and work of it all can dehydrate her, it is hard work. Plus, she needs extra fluids to make milk.
You should have a ready box. It should be a cardboard box and you put hot water bottles in there and cover them with towels. Place the pups in the ready box and lay a soft sweater or towel on top of them, they will stay nice and cozy.
Now that the pups are safe in the ready box, take your girl outside for a potty break, offer her a small amount of puppy kibble and canned food. Do not feed her too much or she'll throw up. So start with a half cup of food. (I'm guessing here because I don't know your breed or how many pups there are). T
Then feed the mom again in 3 or 4 hours, again a light meal. Water should be accessable for her all the time except when she's nursing.
Now that your girl has been out and had a bite to eat, you can clean the whelping area and put some soft towels in there and let your girl get a good nap. Keep the puppies in the ready box until they start to wake up and squeal. Then you can give them to mom for a quick bath and some milk. But if your girl is especially exhausted it is a good idea to keep the pups in the ready box as much as possible for the first couple days except when getting a bath from mom, and meal times(Which is every 2 hours or so). The puppies will not suffer in any way by being in the box for a few days. They sleep constantly. Either they are eating or sleeping, not much else. So as long as it is warm and cozy they are happy. I am hoping this break will help your girl get the rest she needs.
If she can't sleep unless she has a puppy with her, go ahead and put one or two there, just to make her happy to help her sleep.
Good luck! It's a lot of hard work, I hope all goes well for you.

Define shaking?
It may just be exhaustion - birth takes a HUGE toll on the body, as any mother can tell you. The drinking is normal - she's lost a lot of bodily fluids and knows she needs to replenish and stay hydrated. Birth is stressful, it's possible she's feeling overwhelmed and even frightened - and what are all these strange creatures mewling for milk? :)
Make sure she's comfortable and warm; give her some old towels to 'nest' in if she doesn't already have a bed.
Also, make sure you adjust her diet now that she's nursing. You can feed her cottage cheese (mixed in her dry dog food) - it's actually quite healthy and she should like it. Another good thing to give her is condensed milk, like Carnation, that comes in a can...again, pour it on the dog food. She's going to need a few extra nutrients.
Give her lots of comfort and love, and make sure she understands those are her puppies!
If the shaking continues, I'd call your veterinarian as soon as possible.
Good luck, and congratulations on the puppies!

She needs the water and maybe some beef or chicken broth. She may be nauseous. You might offer her the broth with a little bit of plain rice in it tomorrow. Not too much - it could constipate her. Has she been out to potty? Take her on a leash. My 1st time Mommy Beagle was acting really wacko for a couple of days.
They can get exhausted and deyhdrated and it will affect their ability to reason. Puppies crying can indeed make a mommy nervous (I know human mommies with their babies, too). Check with your vet as soon as you can for advice.
Good luck and congratulations. What kind of pups?

I'd call your vet first thing in the morning just to make sure.
I think she's probably fine though, just tired from the labor and all her new duties as mother. She might be cold, make sure she has plenty of soft blankets for her bed. Nursing also takes a lot out of anyone, so it's no wonder she's drinking more water. Make sure she keeps eating too. She needs to keep up her strength to be a good mama.

Take her temp a normal dogs temp is 101-103, a whelping female will be about 98-101. I would be concerned that she has a lack of calcium and this could kill her, call VET asap!
She may also have puppies left inside, that need to get out and her body may have given up.
Call VET asap.

in simple terms save doing what you're doing. in simple terms save a watchful eye on the doggies. look ahead to issues like sneezing or coughing or if between the domestic dogs is pushed to the area all of the time. this is an illustration of ailment and could be dealt with. additionally, if the doggies seem crying excessively, the mummy will possibly no longer be generating adequate milk or something else ought to be incorrect. additionally, watch the consistency of their stools. general puppy waste could be this kinda brownish yellow sticky substance in the previous they initiate eating solids. different then that, the only interest you have have been given is protecting their enviroment sparkling and taking good care of the mummy in the previous it comes time for their first vet examine.

This happened to a dog of mine, but she was like cramping up and couldn't stand up, however she was a Chihuahua, the Vet said it is a calcium deficiency, due to having pups and nursing. Try giving her some cottage cheese, it works wonders, but still call your Vet in the AM. Good Luck!!
