i want to know if i can cut my cat nails with nail clippers

2006-11-07 07:13:19 · 17 answers · asked by Anonymous in Cats

My cat is an indoor/outdoor cat. Recently he started favoring his right paw. We looked at it and it looks like it has a thorn in it. I noticed he will run on it, but not walk on it. When he's inside he looks like he's trying to work it out. Should I take him to the vet or just let him work it out himself? I don't want him to be in pain, but he doesn't like the vet. He's still eating just fine and acting fine.

There is a large dog that hangs around my place of work. He is not very well taken care of by his owners. Recently, his eyes are bloodshot red, he looks sad, he sleeps alot, has constant drool from his mouth, and a green discharge coming from his penis. Anyone know what this may be?

Second. my dog at home has gotten fleas, I have recently been taking him to a new park where a lot of dog walkers hang out. What is the safest and easiest way to get rid of them?
Thanks

Lately my cat has been acting very strange, especially w/ her eating habits. She is old and this may be a part of why she is acting like this, but: everytime I walk into the kitchen she meows like she is starving even though she gets fed THREE TIMES A DAY! And enough food too... she will, each time I feed her, gobble it up in a flsh second and then later VOMIT. This is NOT a joke even though it sounds like I am describing a bulimic human.
Is she sick? Is it just because she's getting old that she has an increasing appetite and can't keep it down because she eats it took fast?
What do you think is wrong with her?

My dog Oscar will bite my 2 year old son when my son gets near his food bowl or any food that Oscar is eating, even if my son gave Oscar the food. What can i do to bring this to an end (besides getting rid of the dog)?

Scientists spend loads of money on keeping the pandas going, but its not exactly worth it. Whenever i see one its always eating. We should let them go extinct and keep some traces of them so we can bring them back like we are going to do with mammoths. Thoughts?

Riverside County is in Southern California between Orange and San Diego Counties, I want a young female and willing to drive 50 to 70 miles to pick her up, I'm a senior and she would be basically be a house dog but I do have a fenced back yard.

I just convinced my dad to buy me a $5000 yorkie. Price was steep, my dad thinks I'm nuts! Would anybody else pay that on a puppy that they fell in love with?

My chihuahua used to be housebroken and went outside to go to the washroom, but now it's getting too cold out for her liking. I've been trying puppy pads for the past few weeks, and she refuses to go anywhere near them, in fact, she'll go on anything except for the pads! Everytime she has an accident I try to soak it up onto the mat and I take her there right away. Any ideas, or alternatives (Ive heard of doggie litter)? I'm at my wits end - Help!

I noticed the blisters when I was checking his toe nails.
Why didn't he cry or limp when he first did it? Cat's paws have to be sensitive?
He's healing up very well no infection and doesn't flinch when I put the ointment on them.

My two dogs love to pee in the same spots about 5 feet from the back door. The smell ebbs and flows but recently is especially foul and I wonder if there is some chemical that will diffuse the smell.

My partner and I are separating after 6 years, and we have two young cats, each of them "owns" one of us, as cats do. I don't want to even think of leaving "my" cat behind, but is it fair to separate them? They spend more time together than they do with us, and they'd suddenly be alone much of the day in their new homes. Some friends tell me to put them on separation-anxiety-medication, but that sounds extreme. I guess this is a question for people with lots of cat experience, or vets.

It was suggested to me after posting another question on here that maybe I should just ask someone on here for advise so that is what I am doing now. I know of an african clawed frog with some kind of injury to its foot. The frog is still eating and acting normal. In the webbing of it's one foot it looks like there is blood. I have pics if anyone who might be able to help would like to see them. Don't know how I would go about that on here but if you know let me know and I will send the pics to you. My friend is really worried about her frog and has contacted a herp vet in her city but the vet has never called her back. She has tried different meds melafix, maracyn and maracyn two on the frog but it has made no difference. Anyone who can help please do.
Thanks.

She is a stray dog we have only been feeding her for a week and we know she is pregnant. Does anyone know of a web site or just general advice on what to do when her pups come. We wanted to take her to the humane society but they would kill her on the spot plus all of her pups and I just couldnt live w/ myself so I have just adopted her untill the pups are old enough.
