Lately my cat has been acting very strange, especially w/ her eating habits. She is old and this may be a part of why she is acting like this, but: everytime I walk into the kitchen she meows like she is starving even though she gets fed THREE TIMES A DAY! And enough food too... she will, each time I feed her, gobble it up in a flsh second and then later VOMIT. This is NOT a joke even though it sounds like I am describing a bulimic human.
Is she sick? Is it just because she's getting old that she has an increasing appetite and can't keep it down because she eats it took fast?
What do you think is wrong with her?

If she's throwing up every time she eats then she isn't getting the nutrition from her food and probably is hungry, even though she ate. I think you should take her to the vet. You need to figure out the vomiting problem so she can be healthy.

When she throws up does it look just like it did when it went in only tube shaped, of so she is eating too fast. Try giving her a little food then waiting 15 minutes before giving her more. If she still vomits after doing that take her to the vet she may have something wrong with her, like a growth or infection. She may have a bad tooth it is hard to say. Old cats may not eat right because their teeth get bad and literally rot in their mouth unless pulled out by someone. Cats eat fast just like dogs do sometimes and some dogs should not be let with a food bowl as the can get a twisted stomach from eating too much!

It could be that she's just eating too fast... try putting down a few teaspoons of food at a time.

If she's eating and not gaining weight or losing weight they she could have an endrocrine problem (such as diabetes).

Or there's a possibility of something internal such as stomach cancer, which is what my cat had. He threw up a lot, at first I thought it was hairballs, but more studies found it was cancer.

Give the vet a call and set up an appointment.

Hope it all works out for the best. Good Luck.

What are you feeding her? My one cat always threw up if I gave her wet food, so I switched her to dry food. My other cat always threw up on dry food, because she ate so much of it... and it expands in their stomachs and they have to throw it up! When they get older, then do usually eat a lot more and lose weight anyway. This happened to my cat for a few years, and I had to eventually put her to sleep (for other reasons) but it's the normal process. Just watch if she's losing weight. She obviously has a healthy appetite, so thats good. Try switching the foods like I said, or even the brand. If that doesn't work, call your vet. Good luck.

You cat is hungry if she can't keep down her food. This could be something very simple or something very complex - and your best bet it to take her to the VET and get her checked out.

The danger in waiting is that nutrition plays a big part in your cat's health. The longer she can't eat and keep food down, the stronger whatever is wrong with her gets, while she gets weaker.

Once one system crashes - say if she can't keep fluids down and gets dehyrated -- it's easier for other things that would not normally go wrong - to start going wrong. It's like a domino effect.

He loud meowing is a 'fussing' if you will that something is wrong. Good luck and I hope the best for you and your cat.

Well, it sounds to me like it may have hairballs. With the vomiting, this is normal for a cat to vomit after it eats because there is a hairball blocking the way. Get hairball remedies, like a cream or treat like thing. This could also be some type of worms. Have you noticed anything different in the stool? If the hairball remedy doesn't work please go to the vet.

one: ur cat is old, you should limit feedings to one large meal or two small meals. two:if she is throwing up this could be a sign of worms u need to take kitty dearest to a vet immediately! three:if she has an increasing appetite that may be because her body is going thru physical changes and can't handle what's going on. the point is...you need to talk to a vet and see what he(she) says and you should always get a second opinion because kitty's are everybody's best friend!

first off, cats should not have feeding times like dogs because cats are smart enough to eat when they are hungry and not stuff themselves in one sitting (cats can stay home alone with a food bowl and dogs cant). this may be the problem, u are feeding her when she needs to eat but is not hungry.
just leave food in a bowl near her water bowl
my old sick cat wouldnt eat in her last years either

Despite what Jenna the cat hater said, I think there may be medical explanations for it so I would recommend taking her to the vet as soon as you can.

One of the many possibilities is that she has a bad infestation of worms. Best get her to the vet to check.
