My cat kneeds, usually on my wife at night, and produces way too much saliva. Any ideas why? It's the only time it slobbers.

just got a ferret a couple months ago and I just found out that they only live to be about 6, which means I only have about 2 more years with him.(bummer). What are some extra things I could do to keep him healthy? I know you can give them vitamins and things like that. But I am sure there are other things I don't know about that he might need. Please be specific as to what brands to use and what they are for. I have been giving him scraps of chicken or fish for protien, and some fruits and vegetables too. I also heard that they are prone to all kinds of illness and diseases. What should I watch out for, and what can I do to prevent them? I love my ferret very much and I want to have him as long as possible.
Thank You.

Our male Lhasa Apso constantly marks/urinates in the house. We have tried just about everything. About the only thing that really works is to crate him when we leave. And when we are home, he still sneaks off to mark at times even tho he is taken out to go potty regularly. I saw this product today called Mark Out (googled and found it). It's basically a wrap around the belly and genitals which causes the dog to only urinate on himself when he's trying to mark. The developer explained how it works. Sounds like it has potential. Wonder if anyone else has used it with success. ??

I know, I know pet stores are from the devil, but I was ignorent when I bought her. Now, everyone ( my husband, groomers, dog park ppl) says she is a shih tzu. I was told that shes a Lhasa Apso and I have her pedigree. In truth, she looks A LOT like a Shih but why would they lie? To what gain?

I've read how important it is to get a dog from a good breeder but I'm not sure how to distinguish a good one from a not so good one. My precious Shih Tzu just passed away recently and we'd like to get another dog eventually. Now I'm worried about diseases and genetic problems. Our dog was only 4 yrs. old and died of AIHA. It was heartbreaking.

he's driving everyone nuts at sleeptime. i lock him inside his cage and cover it with a sheet but he'll start barking at the slightest sound that he hears. since i live in a apartment building with outdoor hallways, it's hard not to hear anyone walk by. i just wanted to know if he can sleep all right the muzzle on. and does it have to be tight?

My 3 year old cat which I had since a kitten hates my other 3 year old cat which i also had since a kitten. She hisses, always swipes at her whenever she walks by. She also always hisses at my wife when she walks by her. She loves me though and I could hold and hug her for a long time although recently she has been hissing at me as well. Is she just psychologically paranoid and if so, is there something I can do to help her?

One of our cats has worms, and after extensive (and gross) research on the Internet, we suspect tapeworms. All of the over-the-counter wormers we looked at in the PetSmart store said they were for roundworms. Any suggestions for Over the Counter (OTC) or natural remedies for treating tapeworms?

She has no symptoms of illness and appears very alert and healthy, but we saw the wormies. (eeeeeeeek)

By the way, we have isolated her to collect a fecal sample, and will be taking it (and her) to the vet on Monday or Tuesday (depending on when we can get an appointment.)

** We called the Emergency Vet who cheerfully told us that worms are "not an emergency." **

And do we need to treat all of the rest of our cats for the same type of worms???

Any suggestions or experience with this??? Thanks for your help.

i think my year and a half old chihuahua may be pregnant, but it is very hard to tell. she was around another dog through her heat and for a few weeks afterwards, and while they were supposed to be separated, i think they were let out to play together every time i went to work. Ever since then, her nipples have been very large and swollen, and look like there may be milk, while none comes out. her stomach feels hard, but it really isnt much bigger, and up until the past couple weeks, she wasn't eating very much more at all. She only ate a little anyways, about a cup of food every day or two. Now she is at about 2 a day. She has been sleeping a lot, and she is much more affectionate, always wanting to be near us. i asked the vet about false pregnancies, and he said while they are possible, with these symptoms, they are not very likely. I havent had to money to take her to the vet,but i need advice. This all happened in the beginning of september,so the time would be coming up very soon.
