Hi,

My dog won't stop barking at cars, bikes..everything really. It's becoming a bit of a nuisance for us and our neighbours.

Can anyone recommend a good dog training manual, guide or offer some suggestions themselves.

Someone recommended this dog training course by Daniel Stevens;
http://www.trade-secrets.org/stopdogbarking.html

Has anyone used it and is it any good? I'm always a bit skeptical of all those great testimonials...even with the pictures.

Cheers.

this poem really upset me the first time i heard. These monsterous humans who are cruel to animals don't deserve to live!

A dog sits waiting in the cold
autumn sun.
Too faithful to leave, too
frightened to run.
He's been here for days now
with nothing to do
But sit by the road, waiting for
you.
He can't understand why you

left him that day.
He thought you and he were
stopping to play.
He's sure you'll come back, and
that's why he stays.
How long will he suffer? How
many more days?
His legs have grown weak, his
throat's parched and dry.
He's sick now from hunger and
falls, with a sigh.
He lays down his head and
closes his eyes.
I wish you could see how a
waiting dog dies

Similarly, for cats: most cats in comics are called 'Felix'. Does anyone actually call their cat 'Felix' ?

I've just recently met what was claimed to be the puppy/cub of such a meeting. Very lovely dog, with some fox characteristics I suppose, but I'm a little doubtful.

my hamster has what i think to be wet tail, only his tail is dry, he has this clicking noise coming from him, i assume its coming from his head, he hasnt been droped by me, however, he was abused when i rescued him, my problem is now when i pick him up to see if hes still ok, there is this residue on my hand, and i assume thats diahreah, but the other thing is, he sleeps in the wheel alot, i have him 6 drops of dritail today, and it doesnt seem to have worked, as he was better before i gave him some, he has goten worse, now he has this sems like its wet patch of fur on his back, away from the tail aeria, its about the size of a button battery, a small patch of what appears to be wet fur, only its not wet, i cant dry it off. should i remove his wheel? only to stop him from over exerting himself? i dont know, ive never had a sick hamster before, i changed his cage and cleened everything there when i gave him some meds, he has a cage mate, should i put the sick one in a box for a cage?

The ingredients say "meat, meat meal, and meat byproduct" and stuff like that, but do you know what that really means? It ain't sirloin, chicken breast, and veggies, and of course they aren't going to advertise chicken beaks and road kill. Reading the ingredients doesn't help if you don't know what you are looking at.

I preferably want a lab or a golden retreiver but I wont be home for around 6 hours every week day. Would that be unfair on a dog?
But I have a big house and a large garden. And I can take the dog on an our long walk every day.

Are goldens or labs the right dog for me?

Also, how much excercise should an average lab or golden get. And how much do they shed. (I know they shed alot but how much in detail?)

So, I took our dog (she's 2, and was adopted from a pound about 3 weeks ago) to get over pneumonia?

The vet we took her to didn't do a chest x-ray because of her history. We took her in last week, and she doesn't seem to be getting better. The doc has her on Baytril and medicine to clear up the lungs, but I can't really see any difference in her. She is eating and drinking - not a lot - but she is. She doesn't seem dehydrated... But she isn't really as perky as she was.

He said only time will tell if she will pull through... but she just doesn't seem to be getting better? I took her back in on Monday, and he just basically charged me for the visit, and then told me the same thing.

I don't know what more I can do... she has no symptoms or distemper... just a hacking cough, sleeps a lot... her temp was 103.8 ... but it has seemed to come down...

Any ideas what else it could be, how long it should take, or what else I can do?

We bought a rspca cat, which they said to us was around 6 years old, her breath is a killer, she is the nicest mog and very loving but she can kill at 50 meters! We noticed that her tounge stuck out a little! The vet said that he would give her a dental, They said that her teeth was covered in plaque, which they had cleaned off. The smell went away for a couple of weeks but then came back, that was a year ago and she still has bad breath and she tends to dribble! Tilly is a big cat not fat just big she eats well and is always wormed, please can anyone come up with a answer that doesn't cost the earth??

Is it inappropriate to have sex in front of your cat ?
Do you think it's harmful for your pet to be exposed to your lovemaking?
I really strive to be a good responsible pet owner, and I don't want to act in a irresponsible manner. Does the age, and maturity level of the animal matter?
My cats seem hesitant, and unwilling to share there true feelings on the matter.
My wife and I enjoy having sex all around the house (and inside as well), but we would be willing to restrict ourselves to a close door bedroom arrangement if necessary. Are cats are our children, and we love them both dearly.
