Is it inappropriate to have sex in front of your cat ?
Do you think it's harmful for your pet to be exposed to your lovemaking?
I really strive to be a good responsible pet owner, and I don't want to act in a irresponsible manner. Does the age, and maturity level of the animal matter?
My cats seem hesitant, and unwilling to share there true feelings on the matter.
My wife and I enjoy having sex all around the house (and inside as well), but we would be willing to restrict ourselves to a close door bedroom arrangement if necessary. Are cats are our children, and we love them both dearly.

your cats don't care, they do not have the human emotion of shame, sex is a natural function
Only humans have placed self imposed ideals of sex and sexuality on ourselves.

I don't after sex in front of my cat... But it's mainly because he's a young kitten who always want to play, and like very much to bite us (not hard, it's a game, but I let you imagine that if it's bearable on a finger, it can be painful in other places !)
A friend of mine told me that the first time he had sex with his ex girlfriend, she started to laugh aloud. That was really bad for him... But she explain that it was because her cat was sitting just at the end of the bed, looking at them, and she can't help but laugh...
Well, I guess in fact the cat doesn't care. If he were a wild cat, he'll see other cat having sex, and he'll do it in front of other cats too. Maybe he'll be curious at what you do, but I don't think he'll be shocked.
Enjoy having sex !

As long as you don't expect or have them join in there should not be a problem.
They might be curious about the noise and come investigate, so might be best to be prepared for a cold nose or warm fuzzy body jumping in the middle of you two.... Just gently remove the curious kit and resume having fun! If they persist,, shoo them out of the room and close the door. I'd worry about your privacy more than their feelings.

You shouldn't concern yourself too much as Cats do not have a perception of what you are doing they just probably think you are playing. I would be more concerned if they joined in or did what my sick minded cat does and watches. It's sick. Just get on with it and appreciate the tenderness of your missus and don't let anyone get in the way. ;-)

Well, if you don't mind risking their coming up and taking a swipe at your butt or something equally distracting. They think you are playing or moving to attract them so they just join in. Unfortunately, it's usually in a way that you might not find amusing.

I don't think pets are stressed by human lovemaking..perhaps puzzled, or possessive, but not traumatized.
