So, I took our dog (she's 2, and was adopted from a pound about 3 weeks ago) to get over pneumonia?

The vet we took her to didn't do a chest x-ray because of her history. We took her in last week, and she doesn't seem to be getting better. The doc has her on Baytril and medicine to clear up the lungs, but I can't really see any difference in her. She is eating and drinking - not a lot - but she is. She doesn't seem dehydrated... But she isn't really as perky as she was.

He said only time will tell if she will pull through... but she just doesn't seem to be getting better? I took her back in on Monday, and he just basically charged me for the visit, and then told me the same thing.

I don't know what more I can do... she has no symptoms or distemper... just a hacking cough, sleeps a lot... her temp was 103.8 ... but it has seemed to come down...

Any ideas what else it could be, how long it should take, or what else I can do?

I would recommend contacting Marina Zacharias.. She is an Holistic practitioner, and I feel she could help you with your dog..

You can phone her in the morning (Pacific Standard Time) or email her..she replies quickly...If her dad answers the phone, he is a retired vet, and is very helpful as well. her consults are free.
.
Ii asked her for permission to list her contact info here, and she said she would be glad to help all dogs, whenever she can..She has really helped me before, and I have known her for many years..Since subscribing to her magazine, years ago..

Your dog is so blessed to have found you..she would have soon died in the shelter..

dogs lay flat so if she could lay with her head up it might help. Pneumonia is hard even on people, so with a dog it might take longer, if she is eating and drinking, she could be doing better. Some times when you haave a cough it last a month.. So it migh take the cought sometime to leave. but if the fever is going down the medican is having some effect now she just needs rest and comfort.

My puppies get that from time to time, all you ought to do is whilst it begins rub their throat and check out to calm them down.in the event that they get scarred or panic it may make it worse. Hope this is helping and she or he fells greater!

Suggest you take her to another Vet - this one just seems to want money.
