I have a 3 year old cat and a 6 week old puppy. Right now my cat just hisses and runs and hides most of the day with her. It's only been like a day and a half since we got the pup. In time do you think they will atleast tolerate each other??

I'm looking to purchase a toy dog and need some help selecting a breed.

I need a dog that

1. is very small (hence toy dog)
2. good with young kids
3. easy to train, must be house broken easily
4. is good by itself as I am at work 9-5 daily
5. does not shed.

Any help would be kindly appreciated.

Thanks

Our kitten is 7 weeks old and has an unusually large belly tonight. It appears as though he is not digesting and his stomach is very hard. He seems somewhat uncomfortable and has been sleeping as his brother plays. Any cause for concern?

My dog seems to respond very well to popcorn. Is there anything wrong with using popcorn as the incentive for training? I would be curious to see if that is something dogs shouldn't eat.

ok i have posted a few before about my little puppy having a large deer tick on him in which i pulled out with tweezers. the vet said he should be fine, yet i found a raised flakey sort of whitish redish bump almost the size of a dime in a circular shape that is somehwat hard where the tick was. i was wondering if this is the sign of an infection or lyme disease. i am very worried. can someone please shed some light on this matter

when they can't afford vet bills, don't have time for them, don't want to walk them, don't want to take the time to train them, etc, etc, etc?

Are you really that selfish?
It's pathetic and I feel bad for the animals in the situation.

My grandma gave her spagetti, and ever since, she's been throwing up. It's sometimes mucous-ish and sometimes it almost resembles blood, not to mention it stinks, horribly. She is also having really bad diarehha. I had to leave her outside cause she was vomitting everywhere. I feel really bad for her. Was it the tomato sauce in the spagetti? Was it EVEN the spagetti? Is there any pet medications I can give her? I cannot afford a vet visit right now. I try to give her as much love and attention that I can. I try to comfort her after she throws up, mainly cause I don't know what's going on. Oh...she was laying on me, and I could her her stomach growling, and then right after I heard that, she jumped off of me and threw up. What does that mean? Please Help!

My brother's dog still sometimes has accidents in our hallway and whenever she poops the smell comes into the living room well sometimes i've noticed it smells like semen. Could there be a reason it smells like this? I know this is a dumb question to ask but i was hoping there isn't anything medicaly wrong with her if it is the case.

Tonite on my way home from school, I hit a dog. The highway is super dark at night. Anyway, I tried to swerve and slammed on my brakes, but the road was wet, so i was sliding along , and the dog turned around and ran into the path of my truck. I freaked out. I don't think that I killed him, but I was too scared to stop, because the road is kinda spooky, and anyway, I went to a store about a mile away, and some men said that they would go check on him for me, and bring him to me if he was hurt. They came back and said that he was not there, and that they didn't see blood or anything, so I'm kinda relieved that he's not dead, but I'm worried that he is hurt somewhere suffering. Why don't people keep their animals safe? I know that sometimes they can escape, but one of the guys that went to check for me said he sees that dog on the highway all of the time. I feel so bad. What else could I have done? Or can I do anything about it now?

After a lot of research my husband and I just got a german shepherd purebred puppy. We equally take part in training, feeding, playing with the puppy. She is now 11 weeks old. However, she follows my husband around everywhere! I feel as if she does not like me, or does not pay attention to me. I am trying to position myself as the alpha leader but she still comes to my husband when he calls her, still has all eyes on him, etc. We have not been able to take her on walks since she is not 16 weeks old yet and can catch parvo. Do you think her position with me will change once I can take her on walks? My husband does not exercise and I will be the one walking her twice a day. What do you think?

My cat pepper is 11 years old. She started socially taking cat nip last year only when around other cats.

I didnt mind at first but then as time went on i noticed that pepper was withdrawn and less social with me. She stopped playing with the neighborhood cats and began hanging out with alley cats.

I found some cat nip behind her water bowl. It was in a little baggy. I guess she thought i wouldnt look there.

I believe that this is a serious addiction and I dont know what to do from here. I dont want to lose my cat to cat nip.

Today after work I snuck up in my backyard to see what pepper was doing and noticed that she and the neighbor cat were breaking up cat nip with their paws and then they snorted it.

I am a cat lady. I love my cats a lot. I have two cats: Lola and Jimi. Now that you know a little about me I'll explain more and ask my question. In the past year we have moved two times (one of which was a 24 hour car ride and the other was a plane ride) and had a new baby. It's been a really crazy year and I really feel it's effected my cats. They used to be outdoor cats and now they are stuck inside all day long. I didn't think it would be a big deal but apparently it is. They have been misbehaving, longing for attention, and standing by the door crying. I don't know what to do! It seems the minute I get one on my lap, I have to change a diaper or wash dishes. A friend of mine came over the other day and asked if one of them was previously abused--and she never was! I feel so bad and I feel like I am neglecting them. They always have food, water, and a clean litter box but I just don’t seem to have time to just pay loads of attention to them. What can I do to give my cats the attention they need? Is there anything to solve the problem of misbehavior and “neglect” issues? Having cats my entire life I realize they pretty much do what they want but I can’t help but feel that they aren’t doing well. Thanks for your responses!

When I was a child we had an Amazon parrot and when we would play certain songs, he would dance. He would tilt his head to the left, then shuffle to the left, then tilt his head to right, shuffle to the right and repeat the whole thing over and over. He also would stop and bob his head up and down.

Anyway, I was wondering if any studies have ever been done on this. Was he really 'dancing'? Meaning, was he really expressing his enjoyment of the music? If so, this must be a testament of their intelligence.
