I just got a ferret a couple months ago and I just found out that they only live to be about 6, which means I only have about 2 more years with him. What are some extra things I could do to keep him healthy (like giving him vitamins and things like that) I also heard that they are prone to all kinds of illness and diseases. What should I watch out for? I love my ferret very much and I want to have him as long as possible.

They freeze quite easily too so if you live in a cold enviroment then give it some anti-freeze... a cup should work

I hope you dont believe me

I had two of mine till they died at age 8, though that is longer than average.
Make sure to give them high protein food, ferret specific or Iams cat food (it's what the ferret vet recommended). They love ferretvite a vitamin supplement. Also, I always had more than one ferret, I've been told they are much happier and live longer with company. I know they get real attached to each other.

your right they dont live that long they need special diet(marshalls ferret) not just cat food they can catch human flue so if you are sick dont kiss your ferret vitamins are always good and lots of luv good luck if you ever get a female she needs to be spayed because once they come into season they stay in season until bred and can become anemic and die
