two years ago we managed to rescue a dog that had been beaten half to death because it had been born with an overbite, within hours of claiming the dog we took it to the vet and were told that the dog woud never be well and the only thing they could do was to put her down. We refused and took the dog with us. We taught her to walk, eat, and to enjoy pats without fear, it was one of the hardest things i've done for a dog. Today she is a mother and a happy dog, but is petrified of other people, and vets have still tod me she isn't getting 'value' from life! i also had another dog diagnosed with diabetes and was promptly told it would be easier to put her down than to give her daily insuin shots...again i took the dog home, and she lived another two years with regular insulin shots three times daily. These have been from different vets throughout Australia, why do vets tell us to do things like that? aren't they supposed to love animals?
