maybe she doesn't have anything to say...can she hear? If she has been deaf from birth, she may not now how to...does she mouth meowing or just not do it at all. If she mouths it, she may have damaged or mal formed vocal cords.

I was going to ask the same thing. My 2 1/2 year old NEVER meows. I know she can make noise though. Hearing her outside when a male gets hold of her (she is fixed). But lately, Cooper has started faint squeaking noises when she is picked up. It's too cute when she does that. I really wouldn't worry about your cat not meowing.

if otherwise healthy, no problem. some breeds, and individual cats for that matter, are more talkative than others. siamese, for example, are very talkative. russian blues, not so much so. also, is she an only child? if not, it might be a result of not being alpha cat. i have a male cat that didn't meow for his first 4-5 years. now he'll meow if he wants attention and feels he's not getting it. even when he does, you can tell it's quite a chore for him to get the meow out, has to force it. i wouldn't worry. count your blessing. your next cat may not shut up.

I have a 4 month old ginger kitty, and I've only heard him meow about twice, both times when he was fighting with my older cat and he was basically hollering 'Uncle'! I dont think its anything to worry about, our older cat is really really noisy, but the kitten just isnt. I just think some cats are generally very quite. If you're really worried, ask the vet next time you see him for a checkup. I really dont think its serious, tho.

I have a 6 year old cat that barely ever meows. It might be once a year she will make a tiny peep. If you are worried you might want to ask your vet next time you see him (no rush) if he can check to make sure she has a voice box. It could be a genetic abnormality or like the first post says maybe she has nothing to say. You might just be such a good meowmy that she has nothing to complain about. *smile*

it quite is in lots of circumstances been pronounced that each and each physique animals can see or experience ghostly entities, and that i've got seen my cats act very unusual, in simple terms right now. yet, it quite is not continually unavoidably a ghostly presence. often times they could hear or sense vibrations that we gained't. working example, I lived in an condominium the place my cats might all of sudden start up appearing oddly...staring blankly at a gap in the room or darting off like their tails had caught fire. i ultimately found out that the resource became mice in the partitions. as quickly by way of fact the owner introduced in pest administration, they stopped. while it befell in my new abode, I investigated till i got here across a nest of birds in perfect outdoors my abode. as quickly as the birds left, the cats stopped. So, besides the undeniable fact that it can not continually be defined, there are often times motives that individuals could look into formerly right now assuming it quite is a ghost.

My first cat said "air" until she was three. My second cat said "eee". I found that if I repeated their individuals sounds they would come to me. Even their sounds changed, they both still come to me when I make their kitten sounds.

My first cat was very quite until I brought home my second cat and then she spoke up.

Take care,
Troy

sometimes it can suffer a depression or it's not the type of cat. basically, cats like people have different dissabilities, etc. so who knows.. also do try to look into their prev. owner(if there was one), because your cat might have had her vocal glands removed.
