They ask to go out when I am there but at night and during the day they can't seem to hold it! They are walked twice a day and let out into the garden regularly when I am at home.

Buy them a cage(crate) to sleep in over night, they will not pee or pooh where they have to sleep.

Feed them first thing in the morning, take the bowls up at lunch time, if they haven't eaten it all, then eventually, with a few days of this, they'll get the idea to eat sooner, rather than later. Don't take the water up, but ensure they have a real good walk before going to bed at night.

Feeding earlier is a great idea. You should leave the water down for them at all times though.

I don't know how big your dogs are, but around here they sell these pads and they are called "wee wee pads". They're for accidents and things of that nature. A woman who is a client uses them for her yorkie....he's ill and can't always make it outside. She says these are wonderful because he has learned that when it's an emergency, he can go on these an he won't get into trouble. Maybe you can try these at night?

Also, make their last night out for doing their duty as late as possible, that might help.

Pick up the water dish about an hour before bedtime. I used training pads for the accidents. They are easy to train to use them. Pleny of encouragment and no scolding. That seems to make them stick with the bad behavior. They are much like children any attention is attention. It is possible that they have a bladder maturity issue, but they are probably loading up on water in the evening

best way is to teach them to 'toilet' kind of on demand. Granted, this is a lot easier when they are puppies. When you see them taking a wee or a number 2 quickly say 'hurry up' a couple of time. over a period of times. You will then be able to let them out before you go to bed and say the magic words and thats that. Apologies if this doesn't work, it works great with my border collie but we got her as a puppy. good luck (P.S. this does work i swear) :)

Stop the feeding earlier, or take up the food bowl. EX: Your done with dinner @ 7, take up the food bowl @ 7:30. Take up water bowl @ 9:30. They will not like it, but it better then the mess in the morning.

I used to babysit and their dog did that too. They put him in a kennel. Then he wouldn't go to the bathroom because why would you want to pooh or pee where you sleep?

right before you go to bed take them outside to do it then they shouldn't have to go at night. then first thing when you wake up let them out.
since it's happening during the day i would invest in a doggy door. if none of thease or other suggestions work i would take them to the vet because they may have ut problem
