Similar to the other post, my cat likes to drink from the toilet (or a running tap). We can't put the toilet seat down because he's trained to use the toilet as his litter. We're trying to wean him off the running tap as we've bought him a new drinking fountain, which he's shown no interest in. Also, he can't drink from an outside bowl, as he's an indoor cat. Is there anything that we can add to the toilet water that will dissuade him from drinking it - something that won't harm him should he decide that he wants to give it a try?

I'm a university student on a budget, so does anyone have good ideas on how to keep my cat occupied while I'm out of the apartment without spending lots? Unfortunately, getting another cat to keep her company isn't an option. She has catnip mice and loves balls made out of paper or aluminum foil, but I'd like something more entertaining to keep her from getting too bored when she's alone. Any suggestions?

I'm a highschool student who obviously cant bring my dog to school. This usually last 6-8 hours (school+after school stuff) and the dog is alone at home. When I do go home I try to spend as much time as I can. I walk my dog for usually two 10-minute session. I cuddle (hehe) with it for ~20 minutes sometimes. The dog is overly excited when I come home. He licks me so much. He doesn't wreck the place so I don't think he has lonely disorder or whatever it is. He lives in his own room as not to go into the main parts of the house. I put the heat and clothing on for him as not to get cold (winter is approaching) at night. I just don't know if I (or my family) give him enough attention. My brother brings him over to his gf house during the weekend so that's constant attention right there. I'm just worried I'm not taking care of it adequately. What's you're opinion? thanks.

am looking after a friend's dog which is a maltesese and is about 2 years old male. My pup is a 7 month old beagle. My pup's trained and obedient most of the time. friend's dog is sometime a nuisance barker.
My pup is playful and wants to play, the other dog does not, and everytime my pup goes near him he barks and snaps his jaw at her. Obviously doesn't hurt my pup as she still nudges him to play. Then after an hour, my pup will start barking at my friend's dog. Therefore there is constant barking in my house at the moment.
I tell my pup off, and she listens for a minute then begins again. will they learn to get used to each other soon?

Its a very very very sad thing, but I am glad he is in a better place now :.) He was suffering so much.Yesterday he was trying to chase off the flies that wouldnt leave him alone,so he jumped up and ran across our yard, then jumped up on our sidewalk which was about 4 feet high, just sat there for a minute, and then fell off, and hit himself on a rock, and just laid there, breathing really heavily. Then after a minute he started crying. I thought he was dying right there in front of me.Then he got up and hid underneath the neighbors boat, and I couldnt pick him up because he looked like he was in too much pain. And when I woke up this morning, my mom told me that he died. We burried him in our garden. And when our other cat walked by his grave she jumped and sniffed around his grave like she knew what had happened. They were buddies. And ever since then she has been moping around. Like she knows what happened. We are all going to miss him.He used to give us kisses too.He was sooo sweet

We brought our 10 week old puppy in for her first shots and they asked us to collect her stool in one of their special containers. We brought back a fresh sample a few day laters and they told us she had roundworms and treated her. Two days later, she develops diarrhea and we took her to a 24 hr vet and they do another stool and find she has Giardia. Why wasn't this detected during the first stool sample, Are they different tests? What exactly is run during the initial 20 dollar stool sample??? PLEASE help, we'd like to know if we picked a compentent VET.

I just bought a new air pump for my 29 gallon and now i have a ton of bubbles on the surface. I've tried turning the pressure down but it's down to the lowest setting. I recently treated my tank for fungus and fin rot, could this have something to do with the bubbles?

ps...while we are on the topic of fungus, I keep getting it and i'm good about water changes and filter changes. what am I doing wrong?

Harold is a red eared slider and is about 5-6 years old. He has been our class pet for over 4 years. He is very friendly and likes to be hand fed. Harold spent this summer in a friend's man made pond in her yard. The pond had 4 other turtles and ate feeder fish and pellets for the summer. When Harold came back to school the pond had already gotten kind of cold, and that was in mid September. He was very dark almost black in color when we took him out. Since taking him out of the pond he seems tired, has a lack of appetite (he won't even eat feeder fish), and I have seen some kind of foam coming from his nose and mouth. I have taken one of the smaller turtles into my tank to see if his behavior is due to loneliness and missing the pond, which didn't work. Harold seems to be getting worse, he is lost A LOT of weight and doesn't like going into the water, (he stays on the rocks.) His eyes are sinking in and he won't walk when we put him on the floor. Any clue what is wrong? What to do?

I have a 16 month old male dachshund, and when he turned 1 years old we decided to get a female dachshund. So she was nine weeks when we got her. She has her vacinations all current. But Today I noticed the male trying to mount the female, and the female growled and got mad at him. We want to wait a cycle or two before the female has puppies. So when are females dogs sopposed to go into heat. Does the male dog know before everyone else when the female goes into heat? The dogs get along great but I want to wait a while to have a litter. The female is 7 months old now. So if anyone knows about this sort of thing please reply. My vet said about 9, 10 months before I need to worry about her getting pregnant with puppies. So what do I look out for? Thank you

He usually does it in the morning and usually 2 or 3 times in a row. It's not a lot, but it's kind of gross and I'm a little bit worried. He doesn't do it every day, maybe once a week or so. Otherwise he seems perfectly fine. He is a purebred lhasa apso if that helps.
