I think I have the best reason. Let's say that you are trapped in a room with a dog and you die of starvation, the dog will mourn your loss and die of starvation too. If you are trapped in a room with a cat and you die of starvation, the cat will eat you, no loyalty.

I've had both and don't really see one as better than the other. Both have their perks as well as their draw backs. I once heard a comedian do a bit on this. Said he didn't trust cats 'cause they sneak off for hours and you never know what they've been up to whereas a dog is an honest pet - if a dog can do it, you can watch! On a more serious note, I think the perks to owning a dog are loyalty, devotion and unconditional love. Cats can be spite full if you get them mad at you for something. Dogs are eternally forgiving. Both are affectionate, but dogs are far less stingy with their affections. Most cats don't seem to like the car, so you really can't take them out and about with you. And I've never seen a cat fetch a ball or catch a Frisbee. Hope this is some help to you!

Dogs arn't called man's best friend for nothing! I mean sure some cats are cute and they purr, but honestly,, can you take your cat for a walk or train it? Dogs are loyal and they love humans. Whoever their master is they show it! Cats are more in for it for the food and petting. Now I mean no disrespect for those cat lovers, but I'm talking about the actual animal itself not how the cat\dog treats the human from treats. Thats another good reason. Dogs love you even if you don't give them a treat! Of course,I love dogs!! lol hope you get a good grade!

Have you ever had a dog? Or a cat?

Some dogs are good guard dogs, very protective of family and any child.

They are man's best friend!

They are there when no one else is.

You can exercise by taking them for walks/runs.

If you are out somewhere and it is cold, snuggle up to your dog to keep warm.

Cats are cool. They are finicky, loving, playful, and more independent than dogs.

Hope this helps!

I prefer cats as I think they are so much cleaner but I understand the fascination many have with dogs. Guys especially seem to love dogs. They can be taught cool tricks, they can be taught to guard and protect, the have been known to be taught to fetch things and help people, they can be taught to guide the blind, they don't hold grudges..are so forgiving and loyal, they love to go for runs & walks with you when everyone else is too lazy. That names a few.

Well cats can be trained at a young age but they have the Instinct to go to the bathroom in a liter box. Dogs can be trained at any age but the older the harder. Both have Instincts when they know if your sick. So I hope this helped.

Cats have NO SENSE OF HUMOR! Dogs cower and bow their heads and cats just give dirty looks! Then go back to preening.
