I have a dog and a cat and a kid! When discussing the various problems encountered raising each, people often say I'm "too lenient" w/my child, since I don't use physical punishment (and never will!)...whereas they go into fits if they hear of a dog or other animal being abused. I agree the latter is horrible, but do you think they see kids as less deserving of kindness and equal protection under the law? It sickens me!

We went away on vacation and came back to a horrible smell : our hamster had escaped his cage and died. We had a neighbor checking on him but she could not find him in the house. I found him this morning under my son's bed so we gave him a send off and now the floor still stinks. There was a stain, more likely dried blood, but I got that up. I have used Arm & Hammer Carpet but it isn't helping too good. Anyone with a similar problem or a good smell fixer, please HELP!!!!

Sometimes, our male cat bites my hand when I pet him. LOL. He doesn't bite hard enough to break the skin or anything- it seems as if he's just being playful. But what does this mean? He's obviously trying to communicate a message to me. When I asked the cat why he bit me, he just bit me harder and ran out of the room like a bat out of h*ll. Just kidding!

But seriously, does the biting mean that the cat is mad at me? Is he pissed off? Or, is he just being playful? Or, does he not want to be petted when he bites?

only way I can get her to use her litter box is to keep my door closed. Any ideas or reasons why she is doing this?

Okay, I just got two little snails for my fish aquarium. I read about a type of snail called an Apple water snail. Is that what kind these are? They are about the size of a pea and they are brown. I want them to multiply and eat the algae and stuff in my tank. I had this kind once before and they multiply like nuts. But do they need to mate or do they reproduce asexually? I only have two and i have no clue how to tell if they are male or female so if this kind needs to mate to reproduce then I might need some more. Help? Please?

Our puppy is 6 mos old today and is still having accidents. Most of the time he'll sit by the door, but never barks, whines, etc. And if you don't see him sitting there he just piss where he wants. Then other times he'll just stop what he is doing and piss. Any suggestions.

My puppy Bully never stops crying at times. He also will "talk back" if you tell him not to do something. That can be cute sometimes. He also wants to be right next to you. Yikes, he is 70+ pounds and growing.

Going to the shelter this weekend and these pups have caught my eye. Looking for a pup that would be good company for our 11 year old dalmation. I love rotties and ours died a few weeks ago of cancer. I know I can't replace her, (she has BIG shoes to fill) but I think Oreo needs someone there with him all day while we are at work.
