I would suggest you do research on different breeds and find that one that would best suit your lifestyle.
Pugs are a wonderful small breed dog. Very loyal, loving and playful, but they, just like any breed, are not for everybody.
There are many wonderful websites that can aid in your research.
Good luck in finding your perfect ***** companion!

Having a dog is a very rewarding experience but before you get one you need to think about alot of other things. even large dogs could live happily in a small house provided all their other needs are met. do you have time to walk them? time to train? time and access to a park or field for a nice off lead run?
these are some of the many questions you should ask your self before you get a dog. consider other people who live with you, other pets? what experience do you have with dogs?
all puppies are cute and cuddly when they are babies even the giant breeds but then they grow! and grow! and grow! sadly lots of big dogs end up in rescue kennels because people didn't consider what they will grow up to be.
Do you prefer small dogs or big ones? if you like bigger dogs how bigger?
do some research before you make up your mind - visit a rescue and see some dogs to get a picture of what you may like. would you like a puppy? or an older dog? remember puppies are hard work at least the first 2 years are really hard can you commit to that? older dogs may be already passed their naughty stage and can be very very rewarding but some may come with problems that you have to work on.
if you want a puppy visit a reputable breeder avoid buying from a pet store as good breeders never sell their puppies this way. be ware of puppy farms.
make sure you see at least one parent when you visit the breeder - bothe parents is a good idea but sometimes not practical.
I hope you make a wise choice and have great life with your new dog!!! good luck!!!!

Dachshund is a good choice to go with. It is a small breed; with less hair; and would be most comfortable if just given lots of affection (& food of course) And a nice cozy corner. Its hair does not fall much and is content with a few good walks. It also makes quite a guard dog.
If you want some dog really cudly then go in for a pomeranian or an lhasaapso.( But they shed a lot of hair)
I in person have a dachshund and me & my family are really
content with it.
Dachuands are cheap to get too. But if you could afford to spend more on dogs you could go for a pug or a poodle or even a chihuahuah.
I have raised four dogs including 2 dachshunds, a german sheperd & a pomeranian. you also needn't spend much money on medical problems for your dog and can keep a safe count on your budget.
P.S. They are cute and cuddly too.

Unless you have lots of financial backing and know about the breeding process, you may want to rethink your idea of breeding. If your dogs are not show quality, you should not breed them. If you think you are going to make lots o money doing this, think again. Take a ride to your local shelter and look at all the dogs that need homes. And if you want additional info, ask Chetco, Chetco is a breeder that posts here often and can give you valuable insight. Good Luck KG

It is nice to know that you love dogs. However if u have a small house i would advice you not to have a pet at home. I strongly feel that pets (dogs more) need lot of space and hate being tied to a small area. Morever it is also a question of mainting hygiene at home both for you and your family and the dog.

I've got a miniature pinscher... but really, if you have a background (with a fence) then any smallish dog will love it... there are a lot of dogs that are perfect for "apartment life" which, if you have a small house, is similar. My minpin does very well running around our house, playing with this toys but we have a big, closed in backyard for him to romp around in.

By all means, a toy poodle. They don't shed, are extremely lovable and intelligent, clean, don't eat a lot and easy to train.
They are extremely adaptable and easy to train.
On the other side, because they love company they will cry and be very unhappy if left alone too long.
There is a picture of them on my profile. They are antagonizing a squirrel up the tree.
