I'd say it would be a Great Dane. But the world's biggest dog breed is the Irish Wolfhound, a male should stand at at least 32 inches!

Biggest dog is an English Mastiff.
Great Danes, St. Bernards and Irish Wolfhounds are pretty big too. Was one of those what you were looking for?

Saint bernards are those dogs that used to search for people in the snow and they would carry whisky around their collars for survivors. They're pretty huge. Then theres Alaskan Malamutes which are probably just as big. They look like huskies and often have two different coloured eyes.

I have a newfoundland pup, he is just 12 months old and already when he stands on his hind legs he is taller than me (5foot 2in) he is 10 stone in weight and will not be fully grown for another 6-8 months at least..
he often pushes his way from behind you, inbetween your legs so you straddle him like a horse,,, i think he thinks he is a horse!
