Do you mean Dalmatian? A Dalmatian is a mid size non-sporting dog that is white with spots of black or brown (there are some blue and lemon dals but they are not reconised as standard). Dals are extreemly loyal and friendly and will bond with their master for life. If you need any more info about the breed, just let me know.

Deafness is not perfered as someone below stated. There have been many attempts to breed out the deafness trait in Dals. Dals were not breed to be on fire trucks. Dals were around long before fire trucks were invented. Dals were orginially breed in the 1600 to kill wolfs. They were also used as a personal portection dog (being left with the carriage to protect it's contents). It was discovered that they work well with horses and they turned into carrage dogs. The association with the fire departments came along with the horses. The Dals kept the horses calm during the chaos of the fire.

The Dalmatian is a breed of dog, noted for its white coat with either black or liver spots. Although other colour variations do exist, any colour markings other than black or liver are a disqualification in purebred Dalmatians. The famous spotted coat is unique to the Dalmatian breed; no other purebred dog breed sports the flashy spotted markings. It takes its name from the Croatian province of Dalmatia, where the breed is believed to have originated. This popular breed of dog is a well-muscled, midsized dog with superior endurance. Known for its elegance, the Dalmatian has a body type similar to the Pointer. The eyes may be black, brown or blue, and may not both be of the same color (mismatched eyes are a major fault for showing), with an intelligent expression. The ears are thin, tapering toward the tip, set fairly high and carried close to the head.As a result of their history as coach dogs, the breed is very active and needs plenty of exercise. They are very fast runners, with a great deal of stamina and self-reliance. Given freedom to roam, they will take multi-day trips on their own across the countryside. In today's urban environment, they will not likely survive such excursions and must be contained.Dalmatians are unique in having facial muscles that permit them to exhibit a behavior that is called "smiling". This involves drawing back their lips in what appears to be a snarl, without growling, to indicate submission.

A Dalmatian is a breed of dog, noted for its white coat with (usually) black spots.
"Liver" (brown) and "lemon" (yellow) types also exist, though they are much rarer. In the US Dalmatians are often known (and portrayed, for example in children's books), as firehouse dogs.
Dalmatians are medium-sized, short coated dogs. The accepted size in the USA is between 19-24 inches at the shoulder. Weight ranges from 40-70 pounds. Females are generally smaller than males.
The Dalmatian is built for long distance endurance. It is well-muscled, without being coarse, with a capacious, deep chest. The coat is quite short and predominantly white with distinctive round spots in either black or liver (brown). The spots range in diameter from the size of a dime to the size of a half-dollar. Some Dalmatians have one or more 'patches'.
