My dog is a Akita - Beagle Mix. She is a small dog, not over 40 lbs. She is preganut, she is due around November 1st. . We already have people who are interested in the puppies which we are going to give to good homes. (with her we have 3 dogs) I was wondering how many puppies we could expect, This is all new to us and not sure much about dog pregnancy.

I have two male cats. 1 is 3 yrs. old and the other is 14. I just got a puppy. he is now 6 months old. He chases the younger cat. The older cat just hisses and stays put as he is the king of the house and the puppy doesn't bother him. The younger cat runs til he jumps up on something or just plays dead on the floor. It's so funny! How do i get the cats used to the puppy? Also, how do i keep the dog from chewing on things? The dog is in the kitchen that is blocked off with his bedding, food and litter. All of his things are there and he is happy but i can't keep doing this for long and keeping him penned up. I want a harmonious household of animals! Anyone with similar experiences, please help!! Thanks!!

Hi, i've got a staffy and she's a beautiful dog, really mild tempered with people and other dogs. I'm just a bit worried because i have three nephews, and my sister is always talking about all this news about dogs biting children, she's not likely to have a viscious streak in her temperament that's in her subconscious is she? i dont want to rehome her, but i dont want to risk my nephews either.

The first question is do I need to get pet insurance?

And can anyone recommend a good pet insurance company. My main concern is that French Bulldogs are prone to skin allergies and respiratory problems, and I would like to have an insurance that will cover most of the diagnostic and treatment costs. And also if they cover neutering and shots.

Thanks!

I am interested in breeding a small dog breed. I am open to the type of breed but I wanted to get some suggestions and personal experience information. What type of dog would say is a more popular choice? What type of steps are involved in becoming a dog breeder? Should I get AKC dogs and how do I go about getting the puppies certified? Any information at all would be helpful. Thanks

I got my puppy about 2 weeks ago and we have let him go on the pads in the house because he is a chihuahua who is only 3 months and it's cold outside. Now we are try to get him to go outside. He will pee outside but he won't poo. He also still goes in the house on the pads. He'll pee in tiny amounts, just because he can and doesn't have to hold it. I'm worried if we remove the pads from the house he'll just pee on the floor. I'm not sure if it's possible to train him to go outside or if I'll have to get the litter box for dogs thing. And if I try to train him to go out and he has an accident, how am I suppose to punish the little guy?

The problem I am having is with one of my cats. She refuses to get along with one of my other cats. I have a male (fixed) and 3 female (fixed) but one of the females was born with a big eye (nomal)size and a small eye(abnomal) one of my females will not get along with her so what can I do? Is it because of the deformity or what? please help! I love them all.

I have a 9 year old male miniture dachshund. About a month ago we brought him to the vet because he had low energy and lost weight. They did a CBC and his red blood count was below 10. They did a blood transfusion and put him on medication (prednisone cyclophosphamide). $2400 later they still dont know what is wrong with him and when we took him home his red blood count was normal. We have brought him in to the vet every Friday now to check his red blood count and it continues to go down. It is now at 23 as of last Saturday. Our options that the vet gave us were to do another blood transfusion or a bone marrow test. Each over $700. We can not afford either of these because his last bill tapped us out finacially. I am hoping someone on here may have some suggestions or experience with this and help me save my puppy. If his numbers continue to go down, I may have to put him to sleep in the next couple of weeks. PLEASE HELP!
