I have been wanting some sort of reptile for some time, but I have small children in my home and I really don't want to run the risk of anyone getting sick. I would prefer an animal that does not eat live prey.

I got a puppy about 4 months ago, he is a lab/hound mix. Some type of hound anyway is what the vet thinks. Well he is doing great as far as potty training and listening, however he has a biting habit. He mainly does it when he plays, but I want to teach him to stop all together, I know some of it is him teething so I got him some rawhide and pig ears to chew on. How do I get him to stop biting when he plays, if I say no he will stop but only for a little bit and then start right back up..lol i think that is the lab in him. But any advice would be great!

, woudl it be possible to get them used to a puppy ? the reason we want to get a dog is to protect our home, which has been broken into , and we thought maybe if we got a small puppy and got the cats used to him , they wouldnt freak out when the puppy is grown- is that possible ??

I haven't gotten a dog yet but I plan on getting one. I'm not sure what kind I just know I don't want anything really small or really big. A medium sized dog is what I'm looking for and I suck at picking names. I need a really cool name for him. I was thinking about a dog definatly not a puppy maybe 2 or 3 years old. Also if you have a breed suggestion please give me some ideas. Just remember I want a medium sized dog. I live in a small apt so anything not to big.

I just adopted an adorable 10 month puppy 5 days ago. I don't know what he was fed at the shelter, but he is now eating a nutritious, dried dog food. I know switching foods is a shock to dogs' systems, but it seemed unavoidable considering the situation. My question is: how long will it take for my puppy to get used to his new diet? He has loose stools all day long. It's driving me nuts!

Our problem is simple. She tears up EVERYTHING and when I say everything I mean everything. It can be toys, metal cans, logs, her dog food feeder, the kiddie pool that we give them in summertime, and TIRES! She is an amazing hunter and is exercised on a daily basis either by taking her to the lake and having her play fetch in the water or just playing fetch in the yard. We do not and will not hit our dogs. We have told her in very firm voices NO and she stops the second she sees us or hears us but as soon as we are out of sight she starts it again. She chewed her way out of her kennel {which takes up half the yard so its more like the yard is just split in half},she has a playmate {my black lab}and is in no way neglected or abused.We have brought her back into the home for the winter and she immendently went and chewed on the kitchen table chairs. She is crate trained but I will not keep her locked in it all day. Can someone please tell me how they stopped their Brittany from chewing?

I was looking at this video that someone made concerning pit bulls and this thing about BSL is a load B.S. What right do we have to condemn dogs that are a certain breed, yes there have been some attacks on people by certain breeds. But those dogs were raised by people that didnt know how to raise animals, either they terrorized them or made them fight. Dogs are supposed to be man's best friend not well if its a pit bull its a dangerous dog. How dare we assume that we have this right to do this. i have attached a link to the web site but if it doesnt work just type in BSL and do search, you are looking for website concerning dogs.

My husband just bought us two hermit crabs. When I came home and picked one of them up the pincher fell off and it had passed on. What would make this happen? Do hermit crabs fight with each other??
