I really want one, but I know how much exercise they need, which worries me. is it really dumb to get one if i live in an apt?

PLEASE don't get one and make it live in an apartment. They have very strong herding instincts and need room to run. They have quirky personalities, and the vast majority would not adapt to apartment living at all. You'd be likely to experience major personality/behavioral problems if you force that on this breed. That's exactly how so many of them end up in shelters and being euthanized.

Border collies need a LOT of exercise. They are working dogs and get stressed out and destructive if they dont get the exercise and mental stimulation they need. They are not the kind of dog to get if you live in an apartment.

Yes, don't get one in an apartment. They are sheep dogs and like to herd. We had one and we live in the country. The dog was getting into the farmers animals pens and herding the animals and even tried to herd a bull. We had an awful time and the dog traveled for miles and we had to go get her. They hate to be couped up and will chase or herd anything that moves. Better look for a house pet.

That would be hard on it. They do need a lot of exercise.

no not at all the dog would be happy to live any were as long as you show love and affection and exersise it well as you have no garden for him or her to play
