petsmart VS petco?

Question

is it just my city or dose petco look run down compared to a petsmart.
and have less care taken of it

i live in the iowa quad cities

Personally I prefer PetSmart. Indianapolis has both as well, and the Petco looks like a dump compared to PetSmart. PetSmart is excelling because prices are usually significantly cheaper than Petco for the same items and have a better selection. Even the on-line prices are cheaper and from time to time they have really great sales items. For them it means more customers. When you have that combination you have the resources to keep your stores nicer. I have yet seen Petco have items on clearance which with PetSmart they have an area of the store just for clearance items.

The petco in my area smells bad. Petsmart sometimes has an odor, but you can tell they try to minimize it. Petsmart has better prices. And Petsmart has the cat cages from animal groups who work hard to get their pets adopted. I always give myself an extra half-hour to greet and play with the cats.

Petsmart employees tend to be more educated about pets, and I trust their opinions over petco. However, most chain pet stores are kinda crappy as far as smart employees go. If you are looking for a good pet store, go to a privatly owned one. As far as prices go, Petco and Petsmart are about the same here depending on special sales. As far as products go, Petsmart does tend to have more of a selection.

Well I've visited a PetCo plenty of times along with Petsmart. I don't think they look run down in my area PetCo is just way more expensive.

I live in the Quad Cities also, I go to PetSmart just off of 53rd. I like it there, very clean!

i agree I do like petsmart better! Petco is ghetto!
