Contrary to popular belief, it is often NOT the same thing we have available in our offices....even though it might look the same to you.

Please be aware that many of those products sold online turn out to be counterfeit product in almost identical-looking packaging. The differences on the label and in the packaging are incredibly subtle. The people selling them online are not coming by them legitimately, as they are only sold to licensed DVM's by the manufacturers. Some of them come from countries that have poor quality-control standards.

It might not work, or it might actually be harmful. Is that really a chance you want to take with your pet's life just to save a couple of bucks? (Many of us actually sell those products for the same price or less than what you can get them online for...but even if your DVM charges a bit more to help cover the expensive overhead of maintaining an office, it's worth it for peace of mind.)

You can do what you want....I'm just telling you what we see from a medical perspective. I would never use them on MY personal pets, even if they were given to me for free. I wouldn't trust them.

It's possible to get the same exact meds your vet has; my problem with it is that it actually costs more at 1800petmeds.com than my vet charges me for the same thing! And you have to buy a LOT or pay shipping. If I lived a long way from a vet, it might make sense, but...

The medicine that you buy offline is typically the same as the vet uses. If you buy it through the vet then he does not get to charge you. My sister buys all her pets medications that she can online and adminsiters it to her animals herself. A couple good sites are
www.foster&smith.com
www.upco.com
www.valleyvet.com
www.revivalanimalhealth.com

These will have the medications you need at the cheapest cost. I hope this helps!

The vet is telling you that because they don't want to lose the sale. It's the same product. But it is a prescription item so you have to have the vet give you the prescription and then the online store can fill it. I own a pet supply store and I can't carry it because its RX.

I make my own, a 100 year supply costs about $20
But I am also doing aprox 30 dogs, so buying it from a vet would be cost prohibitive

Here is how to do it

NOTE:
You can not use Ivermectine with some Collie type breeds
