I bought a baby Banded (California?) Kingsnake for my boyfriend for his birthday. I need to feed it, but he's really small. He's probably about a foot long. He doesn't look like he could handle even a pinkie, but I read that as long as it's smaller than the largest diameter of his body, he can eat it. Is that correct? And, is there anything else I could feed him since feeding mice makes me squeemish? Also, he escaped from his enclosure yesterday and got really pissy when I found him and tried to pick him up. The lid to the tank doesn't fit tightly, but I had a heavy book on top to press it down. What kinds of enclosures are best for kingsnakes?

aka, a mutt? I know they are horrendously overpriced seeing as how they're nothing more than mutts with a witty name, but what kind do you have? What do you think is the cutest? What do you like best about it?

They are generally well-trained and well-behaved. They will come when called and sit on command, and there have been no litter-box problems. We tried putting aluminum foil on the counter, but they just play with it and knock it off. We have tried shooting them with a water pistol when they get on the counter, but lately this does not discourage them: they will hunker down and get wet rather than get off the counter. They seem to really want to go up there.

They're both males, I had the dog for 3 years and now a friend gave me a baby cat. The problem is that they're afraid of each other, so they're always fighting. The dog is a butterfly pekinese and the cat is european breed. It wouldn't be a problem but they're both in offensive mood. What can I do? I care about them both, but this situation's practicly unbearable.

Today is the first day that I have left my 4 month old shih tzu at home while I go to work. I am going to be gone for 9 hours. I left her in my kitchen with her bed and lots of toys, and I hid some treats in her treat ball, but I can't help feeling like I have abandoned her.
This is going to happen for the next 2 weeks from Monday to Friday.
Does anyone have any suggestions about what I can leave her with so she is not so sad?
Who else leaves their dog while they go to work or school?

I have seen photo's of dogs stuck together from the breeding process and I've also heard stories. Is it best to just let them be and seperate on their on, or should you intervene and attempt to get them apart. Someone suggested that pouring cold water over the male would help to ease them apart. What do you do in this situation?

My bassett hound is one year old. She is an inside pet. While her bowel movements have been more excessive recently she has only had the above mentioned symptoms 2 out of the past 10 BM's. She has a bad habit of eating crickets and other small bugs. I am unsure if this may be causing her symptoms.

We are getting ready to fly and we are planning on bringing the dog with us. We are worried about how he would handle the flight (ie, doing #1 and #2 in the carry bag) so we were curious about giving him a sedative. Good idea? Suggestions?
