Sheltand Sheepdogs, Dachshunds (Standard size, longhaired), Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Pembroke & Cardigan Welsh Corgis, Welsh Springer Spaniels, Australian Terriers, Border Terriers, Cairn Terriers, & West Highland White Terriers are some breeds to consider. You can see their profiles & find breed clubs & breeders at www.akc.org. Contacting a breeder that is in the breed's club that tests & certifies their breeding dogs against genetic defects is the best way to ensure a healthy, well adjusted pet from the start.

Long haired dogs require lots of hair care! Plenty of grooming, good diet and be ready to use the vacuum at a moments notice! I enjoyed my Golden Retriever (big breed) and I find long haired Dotson's (little breed) are adorable. Usually, smaller dogs are not so good with kids. I would imagine it would be similar to being an ant and looking up to find a human foot about to stomp! Very scary and could cause biting! I would go with the Retriever any day of the week around a child. Good Luck

I don't think that i would recommend a toy breed for a family with kids..especially not the tiny breeds, such as yorkies or Chihuahuas...It's way too easy for them to get injured accidentally with children around.. I would go for a medium-sized dog, preferably a mutt. They are the best with children and tend to be healthier in the long run than a purebred dog. Plus you can go right to your local animal shelter and rescue one! Also consider that a long-haired dog is a large amount of work-daily brushing for one! You can't just let it go-the dog will become matted, which can irritate the skin badly. Just realize it is a major commitment to have a dog in general, let alone a long-haired one. I have seen way too many uncomfortable, unhappy matted dogs that have to be shaved down and put through hours of grooming to clean them up...Please research whatever breed you decide and be prepared...

I even have some mutts, a extensive historical Chocolate Labrador and an American Pit Bull Terrier. What advice i might provide each individual once you evaluate that the bully breed is gorgeous straightforward: a million) Do your homework. study the breed. thoroughly. 2) in case you're a settee potato, placed out of your techniques it. 3) think ofyou've have been given to have a dominant, assertive nature, in any different case this breed will walk everywhere you 4) comprehend this breed has a bad acceptance by way of loss of information and be arranged to bump into adult males and ladies who will hate you and your canines. 5) get waiting for severe training. exercising is a have have been given to. you could't over company an APBT. 6) advance your training daily. 7) Socialize your canines from the beginning off. human beings, babies, different canines and animals. 8) coach your canines NO teeth ON HUMAN FLESH immediately. they are great mouthers and their 'nibbling/biting' hurts like hell. coach them by no skill to touch flesh with their mouths. 9) forget approximately approximately media hype and make your canines a basically maximum suitable occasion of what this breed in all fairness all approximately.

It's all simply a matter of personal preference. I actually have short hair and guys just like it. And i prefer a person with short hair over a person with long hair because long tresses tends to make guys look also girly.

Shitzhu's are popular with people who have small children around here. I have never owned one but I think they are very sweet and cute.
My hubby isnt into small hairy cute dogs. lol We have Pugs and love them and they make WONDERFUL family dogs but if I could get a small hairy dog it would be a Shitzhu.
Good luck and Goddess Bless!
