We have a goldfish and a shebunkin that are approx. 6 years old. They have outgrown their tank (they are approx. 8-9 inches long from nose to tip of tail) and now I'm planning to move them to a 55 gallon tank. I would like to set up the tank to have a basking area for a small turtle or two. The fish are not very nice and have killed anything I have ever put in their tank, including other large goldfish and two large pleco's, so now I'm thinking "turtle". Is there a water turtle that is an herbivore, or any species that would be safe with larger fish like ours, or should I scrap the turtle idea altogether? We have successfully kept aquariums (cichlids) and terrariums (turtles and lizards) for years so we are up to the challenge, I think. We just know very little about water turtles.

We have two cats, and my dad's gf moved in, and she brought her two cats... So, we have 4 now.. Ah.
Anyways, one of my cats is about 7 and needs to lose some weight.
My other cat is a kitten, about 4 months old.
Her cats are both adults with no weight problem.

I was wondering.. I saw a commercial for a cat food that helps moderate weight.. It helps big cats slim down, but small cats stay the same..?

Can I feed that food to all of them?

There's no way we could get each cat to eat a certain type of food. I can't even get the kitten to eat kitten food.

What do you suggest?

I have 4 cats and I need to part with one. She is very sweet to people, but she isn't getting along with my other cats. I think this may be because she is unaltered. I am a single mom with little ones and I simply can't afford to get her fixed and I need to find her a home before she gets pregnant. If you are able to take in a pet please consider her. Email me and I can send you a picture. Thanks

Our cat came into the office today and was going in circles. I tried to grab him and he felt solid but ran away. I tried to catch him a couple of times and he scraped me pretty good which is unusual. He was also foaming a the mouth and acting strange. When he's scared, he usually runs and hides, he did not try to hide. I finally caught him and we pried his mouth open to see if he had something stuck in there and he didn't. By this time, he'd returned to normal.

What happened? What should I do? He's only 1.5 years old and such a fun cat.

Could it be a reaction to eating a bug? Or some other food? Will it happen again? I'm a little worried.

I'm a junior doctor, but not a vet so all I can do is guess when it comes to diagnosing our cat!

He's old (17) but in good health, still pretty active etc. He was at the vet recently who did a whole host of blood tests to check his kidney function etc and reckoned he had a good few years left in him. He does seem to have feline dementia though.......

Anyway, he has this weird kind of twitch sometimes, in his head and one of his front paws, and he sometimes seems to "freeze" in one position for 20 seconds or so, then he just gets on with whatever he was doing.

In my opinion, he has symptoms kind of suggestive of Parkinson's disease, but I don't know whether cats can get that. If so, is there any treatments for it?
