Eye drainage can be a result of many diseases, such as FIP, Fe Leuk, Fe AIDS, and RSV. All kittens require a veterinary exam at the age of 6 weeks. Failure to provide that is negligent, and you may have ill or dead kittens as a result.

Get your cat and kittens examinied immediately.

The Best Thing For You To Do Is Get In Contact With A Vet And Have The Vet Check The Kitten Out. Ive Grown Up With Cats All Of My Life And I Know Alot About Them. So Trust Me Seek A Vet.

Some varieties of Visine can be used in cats, so long as you don't overdo it. Others can cause serious irritation. It depends on which additives the specific formula has. Contact your vet for more details.

The real problem is it sounds like your cat has an eye infection, and Visine won't treat that. The best it will do is clear out the excess goop and maybe relieve some of the discomfort; but you can do that with artificial tears and not worry about the additives.

Visine works by forcing the blood vessels to constrict, not the best for humans, likely to damage or blind a cat.
There is a natural homeopathic remedy,Similisan for pinkeye, that I use for both me & my kitty. It doesn't burn like the Rx 's I used to use.
My current MD also practices homeopathy, and he taught me this. It is available at Long's drugs & most health food stores. However, with kittens, it is always neccesary to check with the vet. Animals' livers and kidneys cannot take care of all the human medicines, and many will kill them.
"The First Aid Companion For Dogs & Cats" is the best book I have found. It is published by Rodale, ISBN #1-57954--197-6. It has a chart of human medicines & doses for animals when appropriate.
I have done a lot of animal care, & consider this book indespensible It covers questions like yours, as well as being an iinvaluable guide for every conceivable illness, injury, first aid techniques, emergencies, and when to call the vet.
It isn't just your kitten's eyes you are caring for, but her vision that you are safeguarding as well. Also, untreated infections on the head can fester & enter into other tissue, & if left untreated this includes the brain. Not trying to scare you, but is good information for you to know.
Initially you will spend more to start off a kitten in good health, but as they mature, with good care this gets much less after the first year or so.
Dr.'s Foster & Smith online has an excellent series of free articles on many subjects, I always learn something new from them.
What a fun time for you & your kitty starting out together. Enjoy every minute & constantly take pictures, they grow so fast that you will be glad you have them to remember these baby days :)

It is safe to use human eye drops on a cats eye. My vet said YES but do NOT use any kind that says gets the red out! I would use warm compresses on the eye and keep it clean. And get the kitten to the vets ASAP its either a upper respitory infection causing this or other problems.

No, don't use people eye drops for kittens or cats.

Please make an appointment with your vet. It sounds like they have little kittie colds. They may need antibiotics.

When my big boy cat was a kitten, he had all kinds of eye problems. Rough kittenhood. Once we went through a couple rounds of antibiotics he was fine.

I would recommend a vet visit instead of squirting products made for humans eyes in a kittens eyes. Animals metabolize things differently than humans....it sounds like they have an infection and it needs to be seen by a vet. SOON!!!

Yes it is safe. Its extremely difficult to put drops in an animal's eye. You will probably need to just wipe them as best you can. First wipe the kittens eyes with regular saline eye wash and soft cloth to get the gunk out. If you are certain its allergies ask your vet about using benadryl. It is also safe for animals.
