I find that glue pads are the only thing that work. That and putting a cap full of bleach in a full water bottle and spraying around the place at night to discourage them from coming in in the first place.

There is really no use in killing them unless you remove whatever attracted them to your place rather than another in the first place.
Throw out all trash..even if it doesn't look like food to you. Locate any food that isn't in an air tight container and put it in the fridge so they can't find it (personally, I'd just throw out anything not properly sealed).
If you don't have any other pets around the house, borax is a good solution. I had this happen to me in a crummy college apt and have a stupid cat, so borax wasn't something I wanted to try. I got those little roach crawl through raid things and place tons of them in every corner I could find. Got some spray roach killer and sprayed down anywhere I had seen a roach (I locked the cat in a room while doing this then wiped the area clean after a few hours). Then I removed the cat (also remove any other pets) from the house and set off 3 roach foggers. Use how ever many foggers are appropriate for your place, I used all that came in the package even though I only needed to use one (because I really hate bugs). Always follow the directions on package so you won't hurt yourself or others.
If you rent, let the owner worry about it. If you have rental homes/apts near you and someone recently moved out of one (that's how I got them) notify that landlord that their place is infested and is now infesting your place. If you live in a home buy perimeter spray for the sides of the house to help prevent future infestations (read directions, I don't know if you can do this and have a dog in the yard).

Buy regular rubbing alcohol—the stronger, the better—and pour it into a spray bottle. When you see one of those little suckers, spray 'em with the alcohol. That nasty critter will die between 5-30 seconds flat.
Try not to overspray and drown the roach. Only a little is enough. If you do overspray, just let the rubbing alcohol dry up on its own, which will happen pretty fast anyway since it's a desiccant (a chemical used to attract and remove moisture from air or gas).
Now, instead of buying expensive Raid or getting worthless bait traps, you just need inexpensive rubbing alcohol, which is only 99¢ in a lot of places.
Plus, you end up disinfecting the area you just sprayed, so you kill two birds with one stone, so to speak.
I've been using rubbing alcohol for about a year already. I used to see five to twenty roaches a day. A year later, I'm lucky if I see one roach a month. Of course, it helps to throw out the garbage and disinfect kitchen area every night, but I used to do that before and still had a roach problem. Ever since I used rubbing alcohol, I'm practically roach-free.
Also, I heard having a cat in the house makes that house almost 100% roach-free (the cat eats them all). I haven't used this method but I heard it does work.

Forget about roach sprays, roach hotels etc.
IMO, the only way to get rid of roaches is with a product called Roach Prufe.
You should be able to buy this at Home Depot, Lowes or any hardware store.

Yo Joey!
Great Question...I hate roaches too!
Chop up bay leaves and cucumber skins and leave them in places roaches like to hang out, like under cabinets and behind the refrigerator. Change the mixture every few days to keep it fresh and the bugs will stay away.
Make your own roach traps. Mix up equal parts baking soda, sugar, and water, and pour into cut-down Dixie cups. When roaches eat this mix, a chemical reaction in their gut will cause them to explode. Replace once a month for maximum efficacy.
Alternatively, if you don’t have a cat, consider leaving palm-sized sachets of dried catnip around. Catnip is a natural roach repellent and smells better than roach spray.
Will you plez pick my answer as the best. U R cool! thin-Q vry mch!

"combat" roach hotels. They are little bait Packets with bait in them the roaches carry back to their Colony..And eventually The Colony is wiped out... You can't just use them once... You Have to keep new ones out... That is what on box as directions...
Combat is the name of it... It has a target on the box...
The Dollar General store usually has them... If you have 1 in your area... If not-- then ask for them at Wal- Mart...

You definently want to go to all your open drains every where and pour a half cup of clorox down them, as well in the basin of your toilet, this is where they come from it will last about 10 hours, I would recommend getting an exterminator because they will multiply quicker than you can imagine, if you would like to do this at home yourself you can get a bug bomb I get mine at The Home Depot. This will go in the area of the home where they are located and kill them you will need to stay out of the home for about 6 hours!!! Good luck!!

You van make your own roach killing formula, buy mixing soap and water in a spray bottle like a windex spray bottle. I guarantee you that soapy water will kill them. And dont forget to wash your dishes, because roaches hate clean Things.

De-con makes a roach bomb. It's time consuming and you'll have lots of cleaning to do afterward. If that doesn't work call in the professionals.
