There is a specific name for the long row of windows that are above a barn door. Can anybody refresh our memory? They were/are more common on older barns.

If not, why not? I was surprised how many people who are flooded out dont have home insurance and it made me want to ask people if they do. I cant imagine not having it. I have been burgled, had a fire and a mirror shatter over my entire lounge dining room to total of £50,000 worth of damage. I'd have been stuffed without it.

I repotted my poinsetta in decemeber and it is growing great! However it is only growing leaves on one side, the side facing towards the the doors. I have the plant in an office and it gets plenty of light from the floursecent bulbs, but the plant is only growing leaves towards the real sunlight. Should I turn my plant around? Or leave it alone? I am kind of suprised it is still alive since Decemeber?

Hi,

I was wonder where I might be able to buy an above ground pool. I live in North Carolina.

We have already been to Rec Warehouse and we could not get a pool from there. We have looked at Sun Rising Pools online site but we haven't went to the store yet.

I was wonder are their prices pretty resonable?

Or is there some local places that I can buy from? Or should I look on ebay or something for used pools?

Since we live on a acre of land, size wouldn't be a problem.

Because my family has a budget and we don't want to go to far over. The prices of the pools have been okay but the cost to get the land leveled is a problem.

So any ideas what I can do about leveling and pool prices?!

Please help!

I've never had to think about water consuption previously, as I guess like a lot of people I took it for granted. Now I have just had a water meter installed, I'm keen to know what measures others take to keep the bills lower.

We have a on bedroom apartment and are trying to keep the electric bill down as well as electric usage for environmental reasons. We have central A.C. Is it cheaper to set the A.C. to a bearable temperature, such as 79 deg F, or keep a standard box fan on all the time?

i usually turn my ac thermostat up to 80 degrees when i go to work and then turn it back down to 70ish when i get home. is it better (cost wise - energy efficient) to do it this way or does it take more energy to cool back down than if i would leave it around the same temperature all day?

I placed an order for couch/love seat and in turn canceled the order due to finding a better product at another store. I purchased through the free financing which is done through Citi Financial. The store manager told me that because this order was in route, I had to pay a 20% restocking fee or do a store credit. Obviously I will not pay the store 20% of a product I canceled. He then told me I had to use the store credit within 60 days, which is not an option as I do not need any further furniture, especially within 2 months. As a side note, their store credit is for full amount of purchase, which for me included a warranty on the furniture, delivery charge, as well as sales tax (not just the merchandise).
I called Citi Financial to insure I will not be billed for this order as it was canceled. They stated my account did show a authorization for the amount, but it was at a $0 balance as they charge will not go through until the furniture was sent. I canceled the the account all together so no charges can be made, and they stated they would send me a letter noting account was closed.
The back of the order form states "Risk Free Buying" - I don't buy that at all. This is more like strong-arm tactics.
Has anyone else ever had this experience with this company, and if so, how did you handle it? I worry that they will come back on me for this canceled order, or place the charge on a canceled account.

I'm not looking to get into a debate of whether or not tap water in the US is safe or not! Please don't reply to tell me the water is ok...

I live in central PA and they're switching their water systems from using chlorine (which I wasn't thrilled about to begin with) to "chloramine".. Now all I drink is tap water and because of the medicine I'm on, I drink a LOT of it! We're also looking into having children and it would be an EXTREMELY high risk pregnancy, so It's really important to me to have out all excess chemicals as much as possible. (Heck I'm more worried about the chemicals than the bacteria now, thanks to the water company!)

However, we're also on a budget! What's the cheapest EFFECTIVE way to filter water- the kind that attaches to a faucet, the pitcher type, or is my best bet to stick with bottled water for drinking instead of playing with filters?

I recently transplanted a reasonably healthy plant into a larger pot, because it was going to outgrow the old one.

The soil I originally had it in was normal Miracle Grow potting soil. The NEW pot meant I had to add the only soil I had laying around-- Moisture Control potting soil.

So, as you can imagine, the old soil sits in the middle while the Moisture Control soil surrounds the old stuff around and underneath.

Since the transplant two weeks ago, my plant has been getting worse and worse, molting leaves and looking sad.

To all the horticulturists out there: Could this mixture of soils be causing my plant distress? Is the law of Osmosis causing water to soak over to the the edges of the pot while the plant gets deprived?

Or should I not be worried? My plant is lookin' awfully sad, though...
