. I can suggest this, Find where they are coming from, now put BLACK PEPPER in and around the entrance to their tunnel, The ant´s will then carry this into the nest. The egg-laying queen will then move the ant´s out. People do say to pour boiling hot water into their tunnels, but this has very little affect, as the water never reaches far enough in , to kill the egg-laying queen. The Pepper won´t kill the ant´s, but the queen ant will take them elsewhere. When you do find their tunnels, corner this area off, like this your pet´s won´t be sneezing all day ACHOO

Invite them in for a nice cup of tea. They are merely being friendly. Ant powder is best and I am sure it is safe, but the container will say. With the powder the ants take it back into the nest and feed it to all the others. Ants are community minded and will feed their own. Therefore if one takes the poison in, eventually they will all get it. If you had an ant farm and put a sugar cube soaked in food colouring in a section where only a select number could get to it, those ants would take on the colouring from the sugar. If then you were to introduce the coloured ants back with the rest, over a short period of time all of the ants would change colour. I think...

the ant is a pesky little critter.

Hot water the nest only or use a bait (doubtful outside). If you hot water some local ants - the will simply be replaced!! A powerful insecticide is the best answer, But keep your pets away? You need to get the worker ants to take a destructive agent back to the nest.

That is the only remedy

A kettle of boiling water poured into the nest is a traditional method. Talcum powder of chalk is not that effective, unless you have enough to entirely encircle the excluison area, and it also has to be wide enough to form an effective barrier.

One popluar method is to strategically place ant bait, which will poison the queen, and larva. These can be bought from hardware stores.

Or you can just stick it out and hope they will all grow wings and fly away.

Start an ant farm. The best part is watching the 911 ants work to save there friends, when you first dump them in the jar.

Tell me where you live and I'll go dig up the nest.

Alternatively, if you want eradicate them on your own, you'll have to find out what kind of ant is it. What does it feed on? Is it carnivorous? Omnivorous? Your best bet is to locate their nest and place bait around the nest.

The best solution as I have the exact same problem is to put together a cocktail of nothing but salt and lots of it.
You have to kill them and kill them all as they can find a way into your house.
