What is a natural ant repelant?

There is a chemical in the skin of citrus especially oranges and lemons that may not be a repellant but it can dissolve the wax coating on an ant - this coating is how the ants breathe- and so they die...I think you can buy it in hardware stores...it is somewhat effective.
