A friend of mine, 80 years old, doesn't plant potatoes until there is a full moon in June. He swears he gets bigger and more consistent potatoes but he can't explain why. He's done it that way years. What would be the possible connection with the moon and planting potatoes?

I don't want to install a sump pump pit and I don't really want to use the old fashioned bucket method. Is there a way to empty the pool of its icky water? Is there a pump of some sort that is stand-alone, with one end going into the pool, through a vacuum, and then spitting out that water somewhere else?

I have stuff, a lot of it, including a refrigerator in storage. I don't need all of it and would like to see if I can make some cash getting rid of it, but I've got no place to sell /store it as my storage bill is going way, way, up. I planned to use the items in storage in my new place, but circumstances have changed and I can't use it all. Not sure if Ebay or Craig's list is a viable option.
Any Ideas?

They all offered same choices in materials. All will tear off, hall away, use felt (is "standard felt" the same as 15)? All dealing with roof vents, pipe flashings, and metal edge. The middle price was from a smaller company who also said he'd hand nail instead of nailgun and that would be better. True? He also said the existing shingles were "too short" no overhang. The others didn't mention that problem. The others also made note of a sq. ft. price for replacing bad decking if need, $1.90 and $1.40 per foot. Both said they noticed none at estimate time. When the man with the highest price arrived I told him I already had 1 est. He said they would price match. When he heard the amount later, he didn't offer to match. Said he didn't see how they could do a good job so cheap. Maybe the cheap guy is using illegals (which I don't want). Should I ask why he's so much cheaper? Oh, the house is about 19000 square feet and we're going with 30 year shingles, not the old 3 tab.

Having a garage sale on Saturday and need to get some idea on a few items of how much people would be willing to pay:

1) Upright entertainment armoire. Good condition except the left side is slightly faded due to sun. Medium wood, 4 doors.

2) Patio set - aluminum round table with 4 chairs (plastic weaving). Some of the weaving at the top of the chairs is coming loose, otherwise in good condition.

3) 26 inch regular tube tv. Works fine.

4) Gas grill. The ignitor has gone up, but it can still be lit with a match. No gas tank, just the grill.

How much would you be willing to pay for these items so I can price them accordingly? Thanks.

I taped it up with duct tape two years ago to fix and changed the tape last year. It is very green on top, but when I took the tape off the crack is still there. It is like an arm hanging down (ie the crack goes upwards). I could re-tape it, but is there something better or I am just putting off a long agonizing death for it?

My aunt lives in an apartment/house. The house is full of black mold. From the bathroom to all 3 bedrooms, also under the apartment in the crawl space is filled all with black mold, the crawl space goes under the entire apartment! I am worried about my family's health. She only rents and does not own this place, thank god. Is there anyone she can contact about this anonymously? The landlord here kicks anyone out that contacts the health inspectors, and I do not want to see my aunt and little cousins without a home. We have tried to clean the mold ourselves but the mold will not come off. We used a bleach mix. Is there anyone we can contact about this without them getting kicked out???

Agh! We opened a window for about 20 seconds last night to let some smoke out from attempting to make falafels at like 8:30. Tonight, at 9:38, they're everywhere. I've found about 20 flies corpses, and there are at least 10 still buzzing around. I sprayed some with Raid. Those are currently freaking the holy hell out. Jeezus Christ. Someone tell me this is not permanent. Or tell me what I should do to keep them out. We live in the garden unit, so just outside the window is grass, plants and dirt. Oy.
