Fruit flies are attracted to fruit but moisture as well. We had a huge fruit fly problem and could not find the root of it. Turns out they were living in a plant that was being overwatered. Once the plant was gone, so were the fruit flies. Do you have any areas in the house that might have extra moisture? If so - eliminate them.

Fruit flies come from fruit that is beginning to spoil, the best way to prevent this is to store the fruit in the refrigerator, or in some cases a paper bag.

Fruit flies live in your drain. Weird, huh. Pour some bleach down your drain and watch them disappear.
If that doesn't work, there is a commercial product designed to get rid of the nasty creatures. I don't remember what it's called, but it goes down the drain, too.
Yuck.

ummm...fruit maybe. Get rid of the fruit. They are usually attracted to bananas. Place your bananas elsewhere.
