My husband and I are building a house this spring and are doing tan siding. I am wondering what color trim would look good on the outside to coordinate with the siding color. I have seen white with tan, and I don't like that, and I don't like the trim to be the same color as the siding. I am planning on painting the front door a cranberry red color and putting crabapple trees in the yard.

Any suggestions??

Found a dead mouse on kitchen floor this morning and I can't figure out how it died. TERRIFIED of them the last time I saw one in my old house I did'nt go back in the basement for 5 yrs. We have a cat but he was sleeping upstairs and could not have done it. We also have 3 dogs but there were no teeth marks and I dont know if one of them may have brought it in from outside lastnight but I think I would have seen it b4 going to bed because I was in the kitchen. Any ideas as to how it could have died and what is the best way to get rid of them( same scenario 2 days ago but bf did not tell me until now so I would not freak) and again this one was dead in the same spot with no visible signs as to what killed it. NEED HELP! I can't even tell you how scared I am.

OK, so do you remember the hobbit holes in Lord of the Rings? Houses like that (minus the round door) actually exist in the northern US. Being raised in Iowa, we didn't see them all the time, but they were plentiful enough in the early days of energy efficient housing. They were built into the side of a hill, or excavated to only open on one side, the rest was kind of buried in the ground. With an open plan, or a trailer-house layout, all the important rooms could have natural lighting from the front of the house. Add some well protected skylights in the back...and it isn't the dungeon you'd expect.

So anyway, I live in Texas now. One difference between the houses here, and the houses in Iowa, is there are NO basements here due to flooding. But that is digging into the ground, not piling it around.

So can you have a hobbit hole in Texas?

I saw in the paper that there is an estate sale in my area this weekend. I was wondering what to expect when I go...so what exactly is an estate sale? Is it like a garage sale? Are there always a lot of people? Are all items marked with a price? Can anyone that already has been to an estate sale tell me a little more about them and what exactly to expect? Thanks!

My husband and I tried to pre-qualify for a loan to finance a house. The results came back that our credit scores were not enough or good enough to qualify us for anything. Can I still go to other different lenders and see if we qualify for anything from them? Or will they have the same results because aren't they looking at the same credit reports as my first lender? Maybe they have exceptions??? Any suggestions/advice would be great. Thanks in advance.

I have lived in my house. I have heard noises from the loft a few times in the mornings but not often so I have always assumed it was just birds. I have saw droppings up in the attic today as I have been working up there but dont know if this is from a long time ago or present day. Anyway what should I do about this situation. Should I call the enviromental health or should I just leave it and see if I hear them again in the future. Will they come back? I am worried now in case they attack me. I live in the UK.
