Our pet has grown one crop of chia. Now we want to grow something different, like herbs, or flowers. Will anything else work on the chia pet?

You could try growing small herbs. I know they offer the Chia Herb Garden. The steps are all the same. So I don't think it will present a problem.

I've used panty hose before (new washed ones of course) to hold sprount seeds, and grow them like a chia pet.

you could try alphalpha sprouts, radish sprouts and so on - be sure you buy sprout seeds for eating.
