I have two young children and a dog. I have pretty well wrecked my dad's Dyson, and my Eureaka Boss vacuum, that is fairly new. I can't spend hundreds of dollars on a vac, mainly because my husband would go balistic if I did. Also, something light weight is a plus.

We have a ton of birds in my area and I want to attract all of them. The blackbirds and other "bullies" always run off the more attractive songbirds. Is there a bird food that will attract the songbirds and be less tasty to the bully birds. Thanks for you helop!!!

How are you staying warm? Are you compensating to keep the bills low or are you just paying what it costs to keep your house warm?

If you don't mind answering, what are you paying each month to heat your place?

My husband and I are thinking about buying a house in Houston and not yet sure whether 1 story or 2-story house is better for us. We have a 15- month old baby and probably my parents would come to stay with us for some time.

At first I think 1 story is good because I don't have to worry about my baby and parents falling down the stairs. But the humidity and insects of Houston area bother me: would it be too damp in the summer to live on the first floor? Is there any other thing we need to look out-- such as adequate natural light, energy saving, mosquitos or even flood? What is the typical price difference between the two?

Anyone has his/her experience to share? We are new to the area and it's our first time to buy a house.Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Me and my husband have started looking for homes and we live in San jose- CA where the house prices are so exorbitant. So with all our calcultaion we came to a conclusion that we can pay the mortgage and live comfortably only if we have two incomes. But we want to have kids soon may be in the next 1-2 years and we are scared to think that I may have to quit my job incase I cannot work after having a baby. We are so confused now as I am not sure if I will be able to continue working after having a baby, which makes it tough for us to support a baby and mortgage in single income. Has anyone else been in this situation or any suggestions or advice? Please help.
