* Fleas
Due to the flea cycle and weather conditions, many people don't realize they have a flea problem until they return home from vacation or after a move to new premises and are confronted by hungry fleas. There are several types of fleas, but the most common is the cat flea, even on dogs. Fleas are attracted to body heat, movement, and exhaled carbon dioxide.

RECOMMENDED PRODUCTS AND FLEA CONTROL TREATMENT:

The best time to start a flea control program is in the late spring,
prior to an infestation, since adult fleas comprise only 5% of the total flea population. To contain an infestation, fleas must be controlled in every way.

Lady Bugs in the Home:
The best way to get rid of them is to set of flea bombs on each floor of our house. Please read the directions on the box. You have to leave for 2-3 hours when you do this. I don't open my kitchen cupboards like it says though. This also gets rid of spiders in the basement! I have heard that those bugs (box elder bugs? Halloween bugs?) don't like vinegar. So a cheap experiment would be to try spraying vinegar around your doors and window frames.

spray ortho Home Defense for the fleas and for the ladybugs, this will take some time but it's very effective! first get a jar with a lid, now go around ur house collecting the bugs with the jar , but be careful not to injure the bugs cuz they will give off an odor that will attract other ladybugs! i accidentally crushed one last year, looked away for a second and looked back and there were 4 more in it's exact location. the jar method will work just takes time to get them all. if u haven't hurt any of em u will slowly start to see there numbers dwindle till u don't see any! trust me, i've started doing this about three years ago and haven't seen one since! oh and get rid of the jar when u think u have enough or it starts to stink and keep the lid on it at all times!

Okay, for fleas sprinkle 20 mule team Borax soap everywhere! Carpets, furniture, mattresses- anything that can't be laundered under chest height. I've left it on over night and then vacuumed everything in the morning. This also works for lice. Somehow the borax crystals cut the exoskeleton and kills them and the eggs. Put anything fabric liked stuffed animals, throw pillows, etc. that can't be laundered into a garbage bag, seal, and leave for a week or so. Launder everything else you can. There's a non toxic bug pray called Bug Off that you should pray around base boards & other crevaces too. That will pretty much do it for a flea problem in the house but you obviously have to get your pets on a product like advantage.
But, ladybugs? Why would you want to kill ladybugs? They eat aphids that can kills houseplants and are just too cute! All I can say is catch them and put them outside. You wouldn't believe I actually bought ladybugs for my garden one year!

For the fleas, go to the pet department of Wal Mart and get the carpet deodorizer/flea killing powder and follow the directions. You also need to treat any and all pets for fleas and get flea collars for them. For the ladybugs-I have the same problem at certain times of the year and the only way I have gotten rid of them is in my light fixtures. They are attracted to the light and the heat from the light bulbs kill them. When there are a lot of them, I leave a light on all night in an unused room so they all go to the same light fixture where they die.

Fleas first: Flea traps use a light bulb and sticky paper. They are very effective and safe. They generally cost about $10.00 to $20.00 each complete. You'll need at least two. Move them throughout the house every two to three days. I assume you have pets. They must be treated with a pesticide or dip. Their bedding must be treated also. Carpets and furniture vacuumed thoroughly. Good Luck.
Ladybugs are a different story. They can't hurt you and are considered a good bug as they eat other bad bugs, but they don't eat fleas. They can be a nuisance and have a bad odor when in large concentrations. They can get in through the tiniest of openings. Suck them up with the sweeper and try to seal all openings. This is virtually impossible so you may have to live with them for awhile. Their numbers will decrease as the season moves along.

I don't know about ladybugs, but Borax and a good thorough vacuuming every day for a minimum of two weeks will work for fleas. And don't forget to wash your curtains and bedding in case the fleas are hiding there.
