They should build them with concrete and tougher materials, like they do in other countries like Mexico, you've seen what happens to them when there's a tornado or hurricane or a fire, they don't stand a chance, what do you think?

I accidentally knocked over a lava lamp two days ago onto the carpet and it doesn't seem to be drying. What kind of liquid is in there? It was the kind with glitter on the inside.

I have a serious problem with mice in my home. I thought I had gotten rid of them, but they are back. And they brought the family and friends with them. Outside of calling an exterminator, what can I do to get rid of them, and keep them away? I don't really want to use poison, because I have a little dog.

I'm buying an older house (1964) with tar pitch roof, with a some incline (20 degree or so). I'm wondering how much it would cost to replace the tar pitch roof with a nice composition roof. Is this a very extensive operation? What kind of risks am I looking at?

Thanks in advance!

It was picked off a tree (southern california). It looks like a fig but it is yellow. It smells like a pear and has a tart taste. It is yellow inside and out and it is edible. Do you know what it is?

It isn't bad water or anything wrong with it. I just hate the taste of well water. I am use to city water. Anything we can do to make it taste more like bottled water or city water? I know that you can't drink water after it comes from a softner, the salt isn't good for you. But the well water flavor has to go. It is just nasty. And makes ice even taste funny.

I have a bunch of small copper piping and joint elbows used for plumbing I believe. I have no idea where to even take it to sell it. I would rather not do the e-bay thing. These items were left here in a couple of garage drawers when we bought our house.

We are in zone 5. We plant in Mid-May and harvest Aug-Oct. We always have an abundance of peppers all summer and fall, and then suffer through the winter without- because they are so expensive at the stores. We grow red & green bell and jalapeno. Is growing them successfully indoors a possibility?

I have a two story home with an unfinished basement. The basement is a walk-out basement with two large windows and a door. One the first floor the only two rooms on the first floor without windows is the master closet and a small powder room that can barely fit two people.

People always say go to the lowest level of your home but I don't think I should do that.
