I just spilled a large cup of red wine all over my new carpet!!!

oh!!! it makes me so sick!!!

I got immediately out a few towels wet with liquid laundry soap detergent on them and started rubbing.

After around an hour of rubbing the death out of my carpet it is barely visible at all, but you can maybe still see it if you really really look at it. (the carpet is a very light colour). I am also worried about a smell that maybe there now. I dont smell it really now, but am afraid i might later on.

I was wanting to know if I went to rent one of those carpet cleaners , if after using that , if it will be like it was before I spilt the red wine?

I was planning on doing that anyway in a couple of months from now.

What do you recommend or suggest or think?

thanks for your answers!!

Ok, I got a Waltec 12 in my main bathroom, its a 3 piece tap with 2 taps, and a divertor. I have isolated a few things. Its not the shower head (i took it off did the same thing), it only does it when in shower mode, it does not vibrate with cold water only, but then when you add hot or only hot it vibrates and makes noise. I have changed the divertor, bad seals on old one(no luck), and I have replaced the stems. When I got the stems I put the hot stem on the hot valve but when my dad looked at it he said it didn't look right because the water was being turned on counterclockwise. Is that right? What else could be wrong?

I am trying to remove a Titan door lever and replace it with a new door knob. I have replaced door knobs several times in the past without any problems. For some reason, I am having a very difficult time removing the old door hardware (once again, it's a Titan lever and deadbolt). Does anyone know the "secret" for successfully removing the old door hardware?

My apartment manager doesnt do her job, i've got a heater that needs replaced in the kitchen my kitchen cabinet fell of 6 months ago i've tried to attach it several times. but the metal pieces are just grinding away because its not lined up right, my refridgerater doesnt keep my frozen food froze, it leaks water out the back causing a mold problem underneath it. The heater in my sons room will shut off completely for hours, and that isnt good in winter in the north. My bathroom is directly over the kitchen and the toilet leaks into the kitchen light then onto the floor YUCK. Among other problems. With noise in the apartments, my hot water heater is not staying hot enough for a 20 minute shower and the temp has been turned up on it.
the list just goes on! How do I go about getting things fixed with out footing the bill?

My new home has a mix of copper and aluminum wiring. My mother used a shop vac in one of the recepticles last week and blew two of them in my bedroom. Then this weekend my brother was replacing my exhaust fan in the bathroom and that proceeded to blow the entire bedroom and bathroom including ceiling fans, lights and all recepticles. Does anyone have any ideas?

In our new house, you can see straight down into the drain in the shower. I know this not normal. There is a bad smell (sewage) coming from there. I'm not sure if it is missing the p trap or what. Me and my husband went down to the basement and looked. Didn't help because we really know nothing about that. But my guess is the plumbing for the shower and toilet are running together and there should be seperation somehow? I can't find anyone to help with this, and we've been living there almost a year. It's the spare shower, but I'd still like to open the door and use it sometime.

My husband and I are considering buying an old 3200sq ft. brick craftsman home built in 1925. We called the electric company and the gas and electric bills are, of course, very high. The attic is already insulated. The windows are original and we would not consider replacing them as it would take away from the character of the home. What else could we do to help with the heating/air conditioning? Plastic the windows in the winter? Thanks!

why must you never just turn off the switch instead of tripping the circuit breaker or removing the fuse.

This morning my wife got up to take a shower, and the water pressure was very low. I got in the shower after her, and the water pressure started out low, but gradually returned to seemingly normal by the time I was done my shower.

We are on a public water supply, and my plumbing is about 16 years old. I don't remember this happening before. I checked for leaks, but did not find any.

Is this something I should worry about? What could have caused this? Or am I worrying too much? Thanks!

I turned on my dishwasher the other day and the motor seemed to be really loud in comparison to usual. It seems to have washed the dishes o.k. but it was making so much noise that I turned it off half way through. Do you think that it's safe to use or should I get someone in to have a look at it? My partner told me not to use it as he's afraid it will blow or something.

I moved into a community where they have garbage disposals installed. I've never had one before. I've been living here for 2 months and it just dawned on me that I might need to maintain it. Would I ever need to get it emptied? What is a good way of cleaning it? I've heard of grinding ice cubes in it once a week and running hot, soapy water through it.

Our Whirlpool is on it's last legs at 11 years old.

We've (which means me as I got yelled at to open the door) we're using two screwdrivers to open it as the door handle/hinge broke off, until I found a cheap replacement handle and hinge for it on ebay.....

....but no sooner had I finished patting myself on the back for replacing the handle.... the power button is slipping from it's in-position, causing it to stop mid-cycle. I've cut a matchstick and jammied it in to the small gap at the side of the button to keep it switched on permanently.... so it's ok for now but trying to gauge what a good replacement brand could be.

My grandmother, is disabled and she really loves her house, but theres no way she can pay for someone to come fix it. We stay in Cleveland, OH and I'm having problems finding programs where people come out and fix people houses up with no charge to them cause the city pays for it. I have no clue where I should go to find programs like this. I know they exist but I just don't know where I can search for them, or who I can get in contact with. So if anyone can give me websites or anytype of information, it would be a great deal. I would really like to help my grandmother get her house that she was born in back into shape.
