I am trying to remove a Titan door lever and replace it with a new door knob. I have replaced door knobs several times in the past without any problems. For some reason, I am having a very difficult time removing the old door hardware (once again, it's a Titan lever and deadbolt). Does anyone know the "secret" for successfully removing the old door hardware?

The inside of the lock has a small screw in the lever handle on the bottom side. Loosen the screw and remove the handle. Then you can remove the face plate with a screwdriver and you will see two screws behind the plate. Remove the screws and it's downhill from there.

You didn't specify which type of spring was on the door, if there is a long spring that gets stretched above the track, on each side, when the door closes, you can use the information above, but remember if it is an old wooden door, it can weigh at least a couple hundred pounds when you let it back down. If it is a barrel spring that is at the top of the door when the door is closed, it will need to be unwound while the door is closed. If this is not done correctly, it is very dangerous, my neighbor didn't know what he was doing and it threw the wrench right through the sheetrock on the front of the garage 24 feet away.

look for a hole or indentation on the side of the handle, push it in the handle will pull off, then a snap ring should cover the screws.
