Buy a new flush kit
also check the rubber stopper at the bootom of the tank,
sometimes a residue builds up and prevents it from sealing correctly

Mr. Handy,
follow the WATER hose to the valve.shut it off.flush and drain tank.remove parts.skip that.get to wall mart or relevant store.
in hard ware, get the kit or parts you'll need.BEFORE ! you buy ,make SURE the >instructions< are still in the BOX.
somtimes you can just replace the STOP.toilet stop.
the green box with the newer type float will give you no problems for years.
this extensive drawn out description is because i cannot believe no one knows how to do this.lol

ah! no worries!
1 take the back of the toilet off.
2 lengthen the chain!........thats it!!!
3 enjoy!
Seriously as a single mom having to do all the maintenance... just take the little hook off the chain and put it on the longest setting... I know it sounds weird.. but try it... it works...

inside the toilet there is a bubble, bend the shaft connecting the bubble. Make sure there is nothing binding the connection to the plug at the bottom of the toilet.

Check the rubber flap inside the tank if it's fitted snugly. Sometimes it just goes out of place, and you just need to manually move it a little. If you have to do this all the time, you might have to fix its hinge/s.
Or if the flap doesn't fit snugly, you might have to replace it.

I'm willing to bet its the floater thing in the back of it. Remove the backrest top and pull the floater up. If it doesn't have a floater then I have no clue but your problem is definitely in there.
