I would us the same pump that you already have on your filtration system. Just find the hose that returns the water to the pool, disconnect it and then run the pump.

Well I am no pool specialist, and really don't know that much about them but I am going to tell you what we used to do when our pool started to overflow. The filter had no such thing as a Back Wash Valve and We didn't even knew they were made. Mom and Dad bought this house in 1974 and now I own it. When it started to overflow, Dad would unscrew the nut around the ball where the water goes back into the pool from the filter. (moves to change direction of water returning) I don't even know what to call it. Anyways he had a fitting he used to hook up the vacuum hose to. A hose barb on one end, and threads on the other. He would unscrew the ball on the return, screw the barb fitting on in it's place then hook the hose up to it. With the filter on, the water would be pumped out instead of going back into the pool. Since then, I discovered the back wash valve. I installed it myself. It has a setting for back washing, rinse, filtering, recycle (by passes the filter) and one for waste. That is where you can get water out fast without going back into the pool. "The WASTE" if you have a backwash valve, look carefully at it. You can also look it up on the computer. Hayward is the maker of mine if that helps any. I really hope what I was trying to say was understandable and in some small way can help you. Sorry if it wasn't :(
