I tried to put the snake into the drain but often found myself poking at the wrong pipe. How does the professional plumber know they are working on the right pipe? Is it trial and error?

As a single parent I tend to attempt all the diy jobs at home. I am looking into booking onto a introduction to plastering course in Oct at my local college which is one day a week for 6 weeks total of 36 hours. People tell me not to bother as i will not master this within this time scale. I am not looking to do this as a full time career all i want to do is be able to plaster all the walls in my house as they are in a bad state and cannot afford a plasterer. Can someone please advise if i would be wasting my money by doing this course or should i go for it and hope i get some use out of it and will be able to do my walls in my home

Many thanks in advance
Jackie

He will be putting in 23 recept, 5 lights, 4 ceiling fans, vanity light, bathroom vent/light, and one outside light on the house. He will also wire an instant hot water tank and a stove. How much approx. should he be charging for the labor alone on this job

At the beginning of June, I asked my landlord to have the heating and A/C ducts looked at and reattached where one or two were separated. It took nearly a month to get the ducts inspected and the condenser recharged, and the system still doesn't work right. The thing is, the A/C is running nearly 16 hours a day and my power bill for this billing cycle is $443. I've asked him to have the blower looked at because I can barely feel the air coming out of most of the floor grates. The system blows cold air, but as I mentioned, its on for about 16 hours at a time because the house is poorly insulated and seeds some updating (which he won't do even if he decides to sell the place). I'm at wits end and so are my roommates. Its not like he doesn't have the money, he just doesn't want to spend it. He thinks that reinsulating the attic will help in the summer, when it will only hold the heat in in the winter (which I've explained to him). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A few months ago, we had some really bad hail storms come through this area, now all of my neighbors are getting new roofs. My house is 4 yrs old. Should I take it as a sign that I probably have roof damage is all of my neighbors are getting new ones??

We typically clear the dishes well, but need to use the dishwasher for the best wash.

Lately, I've been getting bits of food on my dishes and I have been clearing them off pretty well. I think the food bits haven't been draining at all. Is there a way to clear this at all?

I went to light the pilot light on my gas water heater and it has insulation between the outer panel and the inner panel. This makes me very nervous. Is this normal??

What is that wooden shelf called that people build around their toilet to hold towels in a little cabinet-shelf-thing. I need to buy this but don't know the name of it and WHERE to buy it.

Please add websites or pictures so I have a better idea.

We dried a fluffy blanket in my dryer a couple of weeks back, and the dryer basically stripped the blanket of all the fluff. Now the dryer heats up the clothes when we use it, but it doesn't dry them at all, until we have run the clothes through it a few times. We have taken the back of the dryer off and cleaned out all the lint, and mad sure that the dryer exhaust isn't blocked, but it still isnt drying much. Is there anything else we can do to try and fix the damn thing?

There was melted candle wax and I thought it hardened and I stuck my gas lighter in too deep(gas lighter is the long lighter that's like a gun). Well, I got out the wax and everything and now it doesn't work. How do I fix it without buying a new one?

Having a problem with my hot water and heating boiler that broke up and leaked, I was suggested by their representatives in Athens Greece a modification with a different new boiler.
Wanting to avoid possible further problems, I sent on June 11th an e-mail explaining the nature and the suggested solution for my problem and for guidence.
7 days later, june 18th, they reply asking me the specifics of the broken boiler, which I sent them right away the same day.
On July 27th having no answer yet, I re-sent the first e-mail with the info.
Today 27th of August, I still have no answer yet.
If that is German efficiency, of which you are notorious of, for a single yes or no answer then I dread to think for a more complex than that answer who long will it take!
We usually were accused of that kind of ineffiency. Hurray !!
Greece is more efficient than Germany !!

Please I need your comments on that whatever they may be.

I have termintes on the patio, and a section of the roof where there is a leak. I had like 4 quotes from 4 pest control people. They all give me different solutions... one wants to tent, one says orange oil, another with hot temperature or something... so WHAT is the proper way to treat termites???

Just been given a new corded hedge trimmer and managed to accidentally cut the cord! It's brand new so don't want to throw it out unless I really have to and need to get the work done in the garden asap so don't really want to take it into a shop.

Can I get a join or a connector to fix the cord from a DIY shop? I'll try to get the other half to do the mending but he's not really talking to me right now that i've broken his new toy! Thought i'd get in everything he needs to help the storm settle down!

My dad is planning to replace his oil-fired furnace. Someone had mentioned to him the existence of a dual fueled unit, one that can use wood or oil. He has a good amount of firewood available, so, the only cost associated with it would be harvesting the dead wood and splitting it.

Does anyone have any experience with such a unit? How well does it heat when using wood vs. using oil? Can you run it for extended periods on oil (say, if you are on vacation for a few weeks)? Compared to replacing with an oil-only unit, would a dual-fuel unit have a positive, negative or no effect on the value of the home (ie. is having a dual fueled unit viewed negatively by potential buyers, since he is also considering putting his house on the market in another year or two)?

Thanks!
