I have termintes on the patio, and a section of the roof where there is a leak. I had like 4 quotes from 4 pest control people. They all give me different solutions... one wants to tent, one says orange oil, another with hot temperature or something... so WHAT is the proper way to treat termites???

treat it yourself with bifenthrin, permethrin and a 2 gallon pump sprayer. you can get all 3 items from lowe's for about $75. enough to treat a medium sized house.

Sounds like a swarm inside. If so, you really need a professional inspection and probably will need a professional control job. First save a few of the termites (in a Ziploc in the freezer) before you vacuum away the rest. The get a 'timber pest inspection' with written report and suggested actions. Using this, get a few quotes for control actions. It matters greatly what type(s). Fumigation for drywoods won't even slow an attack by subterraneans.

Sounds like you have a serious problem. Have you had Orkin or Terminix inspect and give you a quote?

They aren't cheap but they do know what they are doing.

Since the termites are up in the roof, tenting may be the only way to rid your house of them. You may also have some serious structural damage, that will need repair.

Bug bombs work good. They have them for indoor/outdoor use.
I would have an exterminator just spray only. Then I'd wait a few days and set off a few boms.
That should do the trick.
