We dried a fluffy blanket in my dryer a couple of weeks back, and the dryer basically stripped the blanket of all the fluff. Now the dryer heats up the clothes when we use it, but it doesn't dry them at all, until we have run the clothes through it a few times. We have taken the back of the dryer off and cleaned out all the lint, and mad sure that the dryer exhaust isn't blocked, but it still isnt drying much. Is there anything else we can do to try and fix the damn thing?

inside the back of the dryer where the fan pulls the air through the dryer the compartment where the fan itself is might be full of this fluff..this compartment will connect to the exhaust vent and will have a cover you can remove to get to the fan itself. the motor that has the belt connected to it on one end and on the other end of the motor is a fan to pull air through your dryer..otherwise you need to make sure you cleaned the entire vent pipe and all the area inside the dryer where vent can clog it up..

More than likely you only need to open up the dryer and clean out the lint. A dryer full of lint will not work properly. Most of these dryer's tops just pop up and the front is then removed and then remove the drum and clean it up.Oil the rollers and check the belt when doing this.a maytag/crosley dryer has a plastic blower wheel that almost always fails.

Does your dryer still turn when you dry your clothes? When you dried the heavy blanket you may have worn the belt or the drum rollers. If that is the case you may need to rreplace them. It is a very easy item to replace. The dryer is a simple piece of machinery. Just a motor and drum. The drum sits on the rollers and the belt turn everything. Usually if your clothes are heating up but they dont dry it is not tumbling.

Did you clean the exhaust tube all the way to the exit outside? Clog could be further down the tube. Another funny spot is to take the lint screen and go wash it at the sink with hot water and a degreasing soap and brush. Fabric softeners can plug the screen by coating it with the fabric softening chemical.

You've got classical clog symptoms.......sounds like you'll have to get more personal with the dryer, getting deeper into it's venting and further down the exhaust vent.

The first thing you need to do is to remove the duct from the back and run the dryer and see if the air comes out strong and hot and if so, your problem is with the ducting - not the dryer and if not, do what Stat said.

This may be a dumb comment to answer your question, but I did not see in your description that you cleaned the lint screen. They are usually located at the front of the unit. It is obvious that you are not getting air flow/venting.

There is a lint screen on every dryer that should be cleaned before every load.

FIRE HAZARD!

Do not use the dryer. You will need tech to come out and get the fluff out of all the little places.

It isn't too expensive.
