Could it be the flywheel key? Something binding inside the motor? Weak valve springs? Worn cam? I had a Briggs that kept snapping flywheel keys, it didnt even run when i brot it home - the place i bot the used motor from sed it was 'serviced and gone thru' but i had to take it back and have them fix it since i had enough of it- they never told me what was wrong - it think they screwed something up inside and didnt want to admit it.

Low compression may be brought about by a bad valve, undesirable head gasket or undesirable piston rings on a particular cylinder. Get an estimate of what the fix will fee alongside with the skill guidance fix and make a determination as to if the vehicle is well worth putting that quantity of money into.

You need to provide more information. What have you done to the engine? Have you had it apart? What exactly do you mean that it stops on compression stroke? How are you turning it? Might be it is a starter problem. Under a load it is petering out.

Sounds like it might be locking up due to fluid in the chamber. Pull the plug and see if it turns over. If not you got something out of order
