Outdoor outlet, 110 volts, 20 amps. The circuit is dedicated to a small hot tub. It draws 1500 watts intermittently for the heater and a few watts continually for the circulating pump. Outlet is regular outdoor type with a plastic cover, and GFI plug. One night I noticed power was off. One prong was charred, with plastic melted around it, and melted plastic in the outlet. Breaker on panel wasn't tripped. No evidence of a power surge anywhere else. Any ideas on what's going on and what I should do to correct would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Houyhnhnm

I have a ceiling fixture with two light bulbs that blew out. When I replace the bulbs with bulbs I know are working the light fixture still does not work. I have tried flipping the circuit breaker in the fuse box but only succeeded in crashing my computer. Why won't the light fixture work?

Ok, so there's this door which has a bar inside (like those fire doors in supermarkets) which will open from the inside without key. However, you do need a key to open it from the outside when it it locked. But since nobody's locking this door and it belongs to a common garage it needs to be permantly locked outside, without stopping it from opening from the inside.

Quite confusing, huh?

No, since you can actually use glue to this purpose and drop it in the key hole I suppose. Do you know the right way to do this? Or do you know any other way to avoid it being opened from the outside, without blocking it at all and allowing it to be opened from the inside?

Thanks a lot!

P.S.: I know it's confusing, but I trust in you all who have great scheming minds! ;)

Well today at the airport the people checking the stuff or one careless lady tripped the container containing my wallet and my watch. My watch is cerruti 1881. It costs about 550$ and I suppose it is quartz. Can the mechanism inside have been damage somehow. The thing is the watch is all metal and is made from steel so it's quite heavy ( it fell bezel-down ) The other thing is when I rotate the bezel there is some sort of very fine powder acumulating on the surface of the glass. Could tge glass have been driven out of its place and the watch unhermetised?

I want to buy one for my friend as he has a very slight problem with a small puddle forming from time to time in his basement.

But I don't think he would view my solution as a solution if he had to turn it on every time the puddle forms. I would be so much better if the thing turned itself on.

But do modern dehumidifiers have this option?

My toilet bowl wont refill after I flush it. I have to open up the top of the toilet and press the lever down for it to refill so that I can flush. How do I fix this so I don't have to manually press the lever down each time?

It used to go away fairly quickly, but now its going on for a long time, easily an hour. And it sort of makes the floor vibrate in that bathroom. I think it is getting louder, I am convinced it is going to cause something to explode! No one else in the house seems to be worried about it, but it is not a healthy sound for plumbing to make. Only one toilet sets it off, so what is going on here? I am ready to start a betting pool on when its finally going to blow up, it sounds (and feels) that bad!

My gas cooker and an electric oven were installed by unqualified builders.
They said qualified Corgi engineer and electrician will provide me with the certificates.
It sounds dodgy but is it the standard practice amongst builders in the UK?
