I am 13 and need to make some money. I am going to rake some yards in the neighborhood, but I don't know how much to charge. I am only allowed to do front yards for safety reasons. I was thinking $ 15 a yard, but I really have no idea.

should a compost bin be placed directly on the soil, raised off of the soil, or placed on wood/concrete? support your answer. why should a compost pile be constructed away from trees?

I live in a small city, but on a double lot, so I have a lot of grass clippings and leaves in the fall. I mulch the grass back into the lawn most of the year, but in the fall I chop up the leaves with the lawn mower first to reduce the bulk, then mow again with a bag to pick everything up. I know enough to add some dirt to the pile as I build it, to accelerate the decomposition. Is there anything else I should be doing? I've tried adding kitchen scraps (no meat, of course), but there were signs that rats were getting attracted. How do I avoid that? Just keep to lawn clippings and garden waste?

My dog was bit on the ear by a neighbors dog through the chin link fence and I need a solution to keep this from happening again. The fence is a common fence separating the two yards.

I live in Zone 5 detroit, most of the leaves have blown off the trees, and the temps range from like 40-50f now, so the ground isnt frozen.....nurseries have trees for practically free.......
If the potted trees have lost there leaves, does this mean they are already dormant?
If so what difference does it make to the tree if in the sping it wakes up in a pot or in the ground....im thinking it would be a better way to plant a tree....suggestions?
I think I have about a month before the ground gets too hard...

We pruned out excess rosemary in the yard and I want to know if it is OK to use as ground cover / mulch around new trees. ( I've heard pine needles are the best and was thinking this would be similar ) Any possible problems ?
